Boys names - what am I missing?!

Swan2019 · 13/09/2019 22:07

Baby boy due in November and we can’t decide on a name.

Top of the list are:
William
Jack
Edward
Arthur
Elliot
Rowan
Hamish
Rory

We want something classic and strong, but I feel as though they’re all a bit boring. Can anyone offer some inspiration?

The following from you lost are lovely classic names that won’t date
William
Jack
Edward
Arthur

I really like them all but find Edward a bit dull.

Not so keen on Hamish but really really like Elliot

Rowan is likely to date as the name has come from nowhere to suddenly being very popular in certain areas of the country, could be this generations Keith or Darren. Plus it’s nearly identical to the very popular name “Roman” (now about to enter top 50, will be top 10 soon). It would annoy me that people always seem to get the names muddled (“is it RoMan with an M or RoWan with a W”?)

Rory is a cool name I think. Quite funky for a little boy. Not massively unusual though. Some more uncommon suggestions above

We're not finding out what we're having but currently struggling between Rowan and Theo.

So Rowan is a favourite but from your list I also think Arthur is kinda cute too.

Jack is a lovely name! If I had had a boy, this would have been his name!

Edward, you get the option of Ted or Teddy.

Grufallosfriends · 14/09/2019 20:33

Wasn't Jack THE most popular boys name for years recently?! There must be thousands of Jacks...
