I am due my first baby, a little girl, on the 1st November. I think I might be decided on the name Rosabel Blake surname for her.
I think Rosabel is just so pretty. Can be spelt Rosabelle but have gone for this spelling as it’s less flouncy. Wanted a unisex middle name to kind of soften it up a little bit but also add a modern twist. I think that makes it a little ‘quirky’ too?? What do you think?

Quite like it. Not names I would pick but goes well together.

Starrynights86 · 13/09/2019 10:42

It’s lovely. Rosabel Blair is also nice.

ClaraThePigeon · 13/09/2019 10:46

Rosabel is nice but I personally see Blake as a masculine name, not unisex.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 13/09/2019 10:46

I love Rosabel. I prefer the Rosabelle spelling. It’s such a pretty feminine name though. Why ruin it with a masculine name like Blake. You either like frilly and pretty names or you don’t.
Even if Blake was a feminine name it doesn’t even flow with Rosabel in sound or vibe.

DailyFailAreTwats · 13/09/2019 10:48

Love Rosabel but find Blake really harsh. Reminds me of Blake Carrington and Blake from Home & Away, which thoroughly dates me...!

MikeUniformMike · 13/09/2019 11:35

Isn't Rosabel a bit like Babybel?

bridgetreilly · 13/09/2019 11:38

Rosabel is okay. Blake is a weird choice, though.

elsieotter · 13/09/2019 11:44

I don’t want the name to be overly frilly - I like the contrast. I have a name along the lines of Blake and my middle name is Arabella which kind of pretties it up so I want to pretty this name down a little! I probably make no sense.
Maybe I’ll have a look at some other options, what do you suggest?

@MikeUniformMike there are plenty of Isabels and Annabels flying around :)

Rosabel Jane
Rosabel Kate
Rosabel Ferne
Rosabel Frances
Rosabel Marie

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 13/09/2019 11:54

All pretty with out being too frilly

Fluffsmum · 13/09/2019 12:36

I think they go well. I prefer Rosabel spelling, but also prefer Isobel, Annabel, to the elle spellings!

They aren't my style of name but I like them.

LarkDescending · 13/09/2019 12:57

I quite like Rosabel. Blake is not my style but I can understand your thinking. Personally I prefer something like Rosabel Blythe, but it's not up to me - Rosabel Blake fits what you are looking for.

Antonin · 13/09/2019 12:59

I think I prefer the middle spelling of Rosabell as it looks more complete. Blake is a great contrasting name. I knew a little girl called Sarah Brook and thought the contrast went very well.
Middle names like Ann, Jane, Marie etc are so predictable they are boring — usually have little meaning except that they flow well

Floatingaway · 13/09/2019 14:43

Oh I quite like it. Never heard of it. Why not. It's quirky but easy to spell and pronounce and a bit different

Only 16 babies in 2017 were named rosabell x

Ohmygod123 · 13/09/2019 15:24

Blaze

IckleBear · 13/09/2019 15:49

I like Rosabel but not with Blake
Bel-bl sound straight after each other

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 13/09/2019 15:56

Rosabel Brooke? That's a more unisex middle name than Blake I think

Bapman · 13/09/2019 15:57

I like Rosabel but agree the bel-bl sounds is weird

whatausername · 13/09/2019 17:25

@elsieotter I like it and I like your reasoning too. It's a yes from me!

Nonameyet1 · 13/09/2019 17:37

I’m not a great fan of the name, sorry. If you love it go for it.

123Dancewithme · 13/09/2019 22:02

Would it be pronounced Rose-a-bel or Roz-a-bel?

Bourbonbiccy · 13/09/2019 22:07

Definitely not names I would consider but they go really nice together. I like it.

DramaAlpaca · 13/09/2019 22:52

I actually really like Rosabel Blake.

Iliada · 13/09/2019 22:58

I think Rosabel is wonderful. As the owner of a ‘bel’ name myself, I always massively preferred my spelling over the ‘belle’ one, although even with the ‘bel’ spelling you can still shorten it to ‘Belle’ when you go through a Beauty and The Beast fan stage!

Also my second name starts with a B and I have always had compliments on the alliteration between my names. So... yeah, Rosabel Blake. I’m saying absolutely go for it. It’s awesome.

Iliada · 13/09/2019 23:09

Oh yeah and as a ‘bel’, may I just that ‘bell’ name endings can get you called ‘dingdong’ by some nasty kid. I was always so glad that I could prove my name was just with the one L, it shut them up.
