Or Joy for a more modern twist?

Joyce was GM name.

Open to alternative suggestions!

How about Daisy Joy its much prettier than Daisy Joyce.
Daisy Joyce sounds too harsh.

frsttimemama · 12/09/2019 12:03

Yes, sorry meant Daisy Joy as alternative!

I agree it sounds a lot prettier but, still wasn't sure if either went with Daisy!

Thank you for replying! x

I'd go with Joyce if you are naming her after GM.

IckleBear · 12/09/2019 12:43

Daisy Joy Sounds a bit nicer but Daisy Joyce is fine.

SuperSange · 12/09/2019 12:54

Joyce is a lovely name. Daisy is a bit popular round here, though lovely.

AverageMummy · 12/09/2019 13:21

Joyce is fine as a middle name but Daisy Joy is lovely

frsttimemama · 12/09/2019 13:24

@SuperSange thank you for your reply. I know, I feel like every single girl name I have come across is already overused! We have really struggled with girl names.

We don't actually know if we are having a boy or girl but, we love the name Bobby for a boy and the only girl name we have really loved so far is Marley.

So, if we went with Marley and ever had a boy, we couldn't possibly have Bobby and Marley!!

Also all of mine and DPs family hate the name Marley because, of the association to the Doggy film!

I'm 37 weeks today and so, starting to panic we will have a baby girl with no name!

I'm also 70/30 that I'm having a girl! Although DP is 100% sure it's a boy Grin

Marnie instead of Marley? Harleigh?

IHeartKingThistle · 12/09/2019 13:33

Daisy Joyce is gorgeous.

Daisy Joy sounds a bit like an air freshener, doesn't it?!

frsttimemama · 12/09/2019 13:34

Blackcountrychik83 Silly reasons as to why I don't like those names to be honest!

Marnie reminds me of that awful girl from Geordie Shore and my (ex) best friend of about 15 years called her son Harley so, could be awkward territory!

Sorry, I have to disagree and say Joyce is an awful name to saddle a child with, even as a middle name - I may be slightly prejudiced as every Joyce I’ve known has been rather unpleasant.
And middle names do get used, in exams, driving licence, wedding vows. Daisy Joy is slightly better but still not great.

user1480880826 · 12/09/2019 13:43

Why does a girls name need to be pretty? Girls are human beings, not flowers.

Joyce is a name with family connections so use it. Joy is unconnected to your family and Daisy Joy sounds like a perfume or a Mormon.

HangingRock · 12/09/2019 13:52

I prefer Daisy Joy. In the dcs' school Daisy and Katie are "A level high achiever" names, judging by the number of each in the list they printed.

NoSauce · 12/09/2019 13:55

Harleigh?? Please don’t.

Daisy is fine with Joyce as a middle name.

milliefiori · 12/09/2019 14:00

I love Joyce. Not heard that in years, but so gorgeous and uplifting sounding. I prefer it to Joy which reminds me now of Serena Joy.

How about Sylvie? Joanie?

tommycockles · 12/09/2019 14:18

Joyce is actually rather cool. I think it could be due a comeback. Go for it!

frsttimemama · 12/09/2019 16:24

Thanks for all of the advice!

I think we have a couple of ideas now so, guess we just need to wait for LO to show his/her face and see what name that face suits best!

xx

ToddlerTwinsAndUnhinged · 12/09/2019 18:24

HangingRock · 12/09/2019 19:50

Joy is lovely. Makes me think that's how their parents felt when they were born

Antonin · 13/09/2019 20:27
