Am pregnant with DC 3, found out it’s a boy last week and the only name I really love is River. Thoughts?

Gorgeous name. Many people of MN are a more adverse to emerging name trends than the general population.

I’ve seen a few years ago parents put off calling their child Albert or Felix or Ralph as it’s too “whacky”. All those names now in top 100. I bet those parents regret listening to MN opinions! It’s a great name - go for it

Its not a name, it's water that boats go on.
I hate silly object names and can't imagine an adult with the name.
There are thousands of names out there for you to choose from.

A family near me has 3 boys, August, Winter and River and people are constantly talking about how silly their names are and other children are, unfortunately cruel and take the mick out of their names.

I really like it too. I know a boy and a girl with this name they both really suit it

To get back to the OP - River, why not, slightly hippy-ish name but sounds nice enough to me.

I suggested it to DP but it was a no from him, I'm gutted because It was in my top 3!

Absolutely love it. Trendy, but there isn't one in every class. Just be mindful it goes with your surname (i.e. River Oliver (Jamie's son) does not work, IMO).

If you had a second, you could call him Stream or Brook!

Yeh I doubt it’ll be the type of name that’ll be teased
But any name could be bullied. A girl at out school called Abi got teased constantly “abi national bank”? The names you’d think would be teased
