Which name would you choose, Felix or Peter? What are your impressions of these names?

Felix.
I like the X in it
Like Peter too
Tough choice

Actually maybe peter! Can’t decide

whattodowith · 08/09/2019 15:24

Felix. I really like it but DH vetoed because of the cat.

MissHenty · 08/09/2019 15:35

You get generations won’t even think of the cat! Don’t worry about that. As soon as your DC is Felix no one will even think about the cat anymore

I know a little boy called Percy. I remember thinking of “Percy Pigs” first time I met him. Never crosses my mind now. That’s just his name

Lavenderblues · 08/09/2019 16:10

It's not the only cat but Felix is also well known brand of cat food!

I like Peter!

Windydaysuponus · 08/09/2019 16:13

Felix is a cat agreed.
But Peter is a rabbit!!!
Neither!

Lavenderblues · 08/09/2019 16:15

But Peter isn't a brand of rabbit food! Grin

Greyhound22 · 08/09/2019 16:15

I have a Felix - it's only on Mumsnet that people get all twatty about cat food - I've never had it mentioned in real life.

So obviously I love it but I do actually really like Peter as well.

That's not helpful is it 🤔

Felix Peter is nice

Frith2013 · 08/09/2019 16:19

Peter is such a dull name. And now I’m thinking of Perfect Peter from the Horrid Henry books.

So I’d go with Felix. The spymaster in James Bond.

Cookit · 08/09/2019 16:33

Felix is low in the top 100 but oddly I know quite a few of them so I don’t know if it’s just really popular round here or in my specific demographic or something.

I like both but I really like Peter (dislike Pete though!).

The cat thing wouldn’t bother me about Felix.

userabcname · 08/09/2019 16:41

I really like Felix so that would be my choice.
I don't mind Peter though, also a good name.

bridgetreilly · 08/09/2019 16:53

I really like both, but Felix edges it for me.

AverageMummy · 08/09/2019 17:40

I like Peter: Peter Pan, Narnia Peter, Peter Rabbit.... but I just can’t quite bring myself to love it - it just still sounds dated. But it’s a lovely name.

Felix is also lovely but in a trendier, quirky sort of way.

Not sure which I’d vote - both are great choices

lostinthewheatfield · 08/09/2019 18:16

Peter, I think you'll be seen as a trendsetter I think Peter will rise in popularity in the next 5 years but won't be many in your babies year.

user1493494961 · 08/09/2019 18:25

Peter.

DramaAlpaca · 08/09/2019 20:22

I very much prefer Peter.

I suppose the difference is that Peter is an underused classic, while Felix is more trendy & seems to be having a moment.

Lavenderblues · 08/09/2019 20:43

Peter! Sounds so refreshing and underused.

DontForgetToDeadhead · 08/09/2019 20:48

I like Felix but I love Peter. Classic but unusual, soft but strong. I'd use it except it's both my dad's and my DP's name..

RomaineCalm · 08/09/2019 20:50

I like Felix better if only because it 'writes' better.

theoriginalmadambee · 08/09/2019 20:58

Oh op, both are lovely. I'm only posting to tell you how relieved I am, there are still people who prefer 'normal' names. (Have just been on the Nebuchadnezzar thread). Good luck Smile.

MikeUniformMike · 08/09/2019 21:39

I would choose Peter. Felix is ok but they are quite different.

Sophronia · 09/09/2019 00:41

Peter, definitely.

Sweetaholic · 09/09/2019 00:49

Neither.

JudgeMeNot · 09/09/2019 00:58

Never liked Felix. Had a wonderful rabbit called Peter. If the baby has big ears & a grey fluffy face, I'd go with Peter!

Equatoria · 09/09/2019 08:23

I like both but think Peter is more unusual these days.

autumnleaves99 · 09/09/2019 09:00

Love that there is so much love for the name Peter, my one year old is called Peter, I do know of one other toddler called Peter but that's it. We found it really hard to settle on a boy's name, we wanted something fairly traditional but I seemed to know lots of other babies/toddlers with names that we liked. DH suggested Peter and I really love the name.
