Do you associate the name Riva (Reeva) with the model murdered by her pathetic boyfriend?

Poppydaisys · 05/09/2019 12:16

Yes, but only as that's the only Reeva I've ever heard of.

HeronLanyon · 05/09/2019 12:19

Yes as above because that’s the only time I have ever heard the name. Quick google brings this up also first page all about the murder no other references. Obvs this may change if the name is used more.

Chitarra · 05/09/2019 12:25

No. I vaguely remember that case but only when you mentioned it, not enough to think of it as soon as I hear the name.

HeronLanyon · 05/09/2019 12:28

In all honesty I couldn’t remember exactly which murder this was. I immediately thought ‘murder not in uk a very reported case’.

ELM8 · 05/09/2019 12:29

Wasn't the first thought that came to mind, no.

courtlee · 05/09/2019 12:31

Yes it was mine. I love the name Keeva though if you like that.

DramaAlpaca · 05/09/2019 14:40

Yes, unfortunately. It's such a shame as it's a very pretty name.

HattieMcNastie · 05/09/2019 14:41

Yes. Never heard it apart from that.

diddlediddle · 05/09/2019 14:51

Yes 100%

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 05/09/2019 14:54

Yes. Not sure it matters for a baby born now though.

daisypond · 05/09/2019 15:01

No, not at all. Her name was Reeva and the name you’re suggesting is Riva.

20viona · 05/09/2019 15:04

Yes but it's a nice name and quite different.

Icantthinkofanynewnames · 05/09/2019 15:54

Yes, it immediately made me think of her.

OtraCosaMariposa · 05/09/2019 15:55

I thought Lada Riva. As in the really lame Soviet car.

Not a great association either.

SallyWD · 05/09/2019 15:56

I wouldn't, no.

CassianAndor · 05/09/2019 15:57

Reeva - yes
Riva - no

FenellaMaxwell · 05/09/2019 15:59

Yes

GlamGiraffe · 05/09/2019 16:00

Yes

user1493494961 · 05/09/2019 17:14

Yes.

The4ks · 05/09/2019 17:34

Yeah I'm afraid so which is a shame because it's a lovely name.

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 05/09/2019 17:41

Unless you are pronouncing it River then yes. No matter how it's spelt the name Reeva/Rive is likely to make people think of the case simply because it's such an uncommon name its likely the only time they have heard it.

Fuiseog · 05/09/2019 19:15

When I read the start of the sentence, I thought the name was familiar but didn't know why. When I read the end, I immediately realised that was why I had heard it before. I knew there was a connection, but I'm not sure I would have made it alone, or at least not immediately.

KronksSpinachPuffs · 05/09/2019 19:38

If it was spelt as Reeva then I would, but that's mainly because I hadn't heard the name before it was on the news
