What are your thoughts on the name Patrick? Will people assume you're Irish (so would it be awkward if you're not really)? Can it work with an English surname?

Patrick is lovely and is fine with an English surname.

Hellokitty135 · 03/09/2019 12:13

Yes, it's a very Irish name (St Patrick ☘️) but is well enough known that it works well with an English surname.

Astronica · 03/09/2019 12:14

I like it a lot. None of the Patricks I've known have been Irish, so I don't see it as a problem.

Frith2013 · 03/09/2019 12:36

It’s a fine name for a plumber in his 50s.

Mendingfences · 03/09/2019 12:38

I know several Patricks with scandinavian surnames so i think you're fine eith an English one

It's a gorgeous name and no issues with spelling or pronunciation. Several appealing shortenings. I know a Scottish one and two Americans who have no Irish connections. Go for it!

Nice name, unusual/not trendy (this is a good thing!).

JaneJeffer · 03/09/2019 12:55

St. Patrick wasn't Irish!

Popular name in France not so much in Ireland nowadays.

I like Patrick, ignore the negative comments.

Mumatoo · 03/09/2019 13:58

It’s a lovely name and any Patricks that i’ve known have been gentle and kind.
Patrick Grant (Great British Sewing Bee) and Patrick Stewart are fine examples are English Patricks.

Time40 · 03/09/2019 14:25

I think it's lovely. Go for it.

Just watched a film called Patrick, he was a pug Grin

violetteskies · 03/09/2019 15:33

My younger brother’s name... he’s a charmer and really suits it. We are completely English too and have a surname similar to Miller.
We call him P!

AverageMummy · 03/09/2019 16:09

I don’t like it but there’s nothing wrong with it
