Hi there.
Can I get your thoughts on Elijah?
Thanks x

Love it 😍 and I love Eli. It's a great name I think.

user1493494961 · 02/09/2019 09:24

Nice name. Know one who is usually called Lijah not Eli.

Sparkandgold · 02/09/2019 09:43

My partner also likes Eli but we do love Elijah and to works well with surname.
Glad there is positive feedback

Love it.

Sparklysunflower · 02/09/2019 10:08

How is it pronounced? Eh lee ah?

Sparkandgold · 02/09/2019 10:12

I thought there was only one way to pronounce it (I suppose depending on accent)

sparkly it’s El-eye-jah

I love it , OP. So much so it’s the name DH and I have chosen for our little boy due in January Smile we’ll also be using Eli as a shortening

Sparkandgold · 02/09/2019 10:17

Missmonkeypenny great choice :)
Think we'll be doing the same with Eli as a nn.

Absolutely love the name so much that I don’t think I’d want to shorten it.

Peachbubble · 02/09/2019 10:33

Really like it

Marinetta · 02/09/2019 10:35

Great name, was on my shortlist.

mum2jakie · 02/09/2019 10:40

It's gaining in popularity. Was the 41st most popular boy's name last year.

Sparkandgold · 02/09/2019 10:40

Am so pleased with the feedback. MN can be brutal with baby names

It's a lovely name. It was on my list for DD2 had she been a he. But I went to a busy park one day while pregnant with her and heard Elijah and Eli called to three different kids (this was 10 years ago) so it did put me off slightly. I also know of two socially.

Having said that, it's really lovely.

Morado · 02/09/2019 10:58

I love it! It was on our list for a boy until my friend named her son Elijah. I wouldn't use it now anyway as its growing in popularity and unfortunately that puts me off a name automatically 😂

PetraRabbit · 02/09/2019 11:41

Very, very biblical. I'd expect a brother to be called Issaac or Joshua. If I'm honest I find a name like Elijah strange if the family is completely atheist but it's a nice traditional choice if it fits your taste.

Turtlesone · 02/09/2019 11:48

I have one and absolutely love it! He’s mostly called Eli (he’s almost 2) which I love too

KTD27 · 02/09/2019 11:52

I have one too! He’s 3 and is both Elijah and Eli. Still love it and was always our number one choice. Smile

Astronica · 02/09/2019 14:37

I'm not a fan of it. Like Noah it's becoming very popular though right now.

neighbourhoodwitch · 02/09/2019 14:40

Love it!

Sparkandgold · 02/09/2019 16:06

I'm not fussed if it's popular.

PetraRabbit interesting take. Technically it's a Jewish name but that wouldn't worry me as someone who isn't practising.

OP posts:
DramaAlpaca · 02/09/2019 16:11

My take on it is the same as PetraRabbit in that I'd assume you were quite religious unless I knew otherwise. But then, I wouldn't assume that of Noah, probably since it's now so popular so what do I know? Grin

To be honest Elijah isn't my style of name at all, there's nothing wrong with it at all, it's just not for me.

Twickerhun · 02/09/2019 16:12

It’s on our list we have Jewish heritage so it fits ethnically for us but has a decent wider popularity.

Sparkandgold · 02/09/2019 16:24

That's really interesting to see it as a religious name which I totally understand but wouldn't associate it with being from a religious family.
Then again noah or Joshua wouldn't make me think religious

However I think religious when I hear then name Josiah

So really there isn't any logic to my thinking Grin
