How is the name Peter perceived? Too dated? Due for a comeback? What do you think of the name Peter?

I’ve always thought of it as an older persons name but there’s four in school right now! All non British children as it happens.

DramaAlpaca · 01/09/2019 00:33

I love it. It's an underused classic & must be due a revival.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 01/09/2019 00:41

It’s my dads name so I love it and it’s on my list for another boy. But also it reminds me of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe which was my favourite book as a child. I think it’s a Lovely classic name.

diddlediddle · 01/09/2019 07:05

Due for a come back definitely. It's a lovely name.

Lovely

PotatoCity · 01/09/2019 07:40

I quite like it, and suggested to put it on our list, but DH said he thinks it sounds a bit “wet/weedy”

BlueBilledBeatboxingBird · 01/09/2019 07:52

Love it, and think it’s definitely due a revival. I don’t think it’s wet or weedy at all. It means ‘rock’.

Carpetburns · 01/09/2019 07:53

I like it!

NannyR · 01/09/2019 08:00

It's a strong, classic name, I love it.

Rainbowqueeen · 01/09/2019 08:01

Think it’s fab

PrincessLouis · 01/09/2019 08:09

Love it too! Saint Peter = Jesus’s right hand man, guards the gates of heaven. Plus yy to Narnia. Not wet at all. Go for it!

Lovely name.

maryannay · 01/09/2019 08:28

Lovely and strong! A refreshing change from all cutesy Archies, Alfies and Teddies!

finallychangedmyusername · 01/09/2019 08:33

Love Peter. I'm surprised with the Peter Rabbit movie it hasn't been more popular. Also Peter Pan!

travellersglitch · 01/09/2019 08:33

My dad is Peter and he's nearly a pensioner.

Haz1516 · 01/09/2019 08:34

Due for a comeback, definitely.

Nonnymum · 01/09/2019 08:36

There is a Peter at my GC nursery, I think it is becoming popular again.

abitoflight · 01/09/2019 09:16

DS is Peter. Still love it after 15 years

Disfordarkchocolate · 01/09/2019 09:58

It's lovely. Strong, classic and easy to spell.

Abstractedobstructed · 01/09/2019 09:59

I like Peter and we strongly considered it for ds2 but rejected it on the grounds that we have French relatives and "pêter" means 'to fart'. Just in case that is the case for you too!
