What are your thoughts on Kate as a full name

Love it.

AverageMummy · 31/08/2019 14:50

It’s ok but prefer as nickname for Katherine as it allows so many options as they grow

maryannay · 31/08/2019 14:52

I'd assume she was a Katharine

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 31/08/2019 14:53

Love it. Perfectly acceptable as a name in its own right.

NoSauce · 31/08/2019 15:05

It’s ok. A bit dated to me though but perfectly nice. A bit like Emma.

AlliKaneErikson · 31/08/2019 15:41

I’ve managed pretty well for the last 44 with it and i’ve only been asked by about 2 people if it’s short for Katherine. I must quite like it as it’s my dd’s middle name too.

Thecaravan · 31/08/2019 18:48

I absolutely love it. Wanted it for DD2 but already had a family member on DHs side with it as a shortened name for Catherine.

Chitarra · 31/08/2019 18:48

Nice

Roselilly36 · 31/08/2019 18:51

I like it.

SummerHouse · 31/08/2019 18:53

I love it.

aibutohavethisusername · 31/08/2019 19:44

Lovely name

MikeUniformMike · 31/08/2019 20:16

Why bother calling Kate Katherine/Katharine if you are only ever going to call her Kate?

whitetoblerone · 31/08/2019 20:19

It's underrated. Love it.

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 31/08/2019 20:21

Boring and dated

joystir59 · 31/08/2019 20:22

Nice name.

EdWinchester · 31/08/2019 20:22

I like it, but the association with Kate Middleton would put me off.

Not because she's offensive (too blah to be), but because people would think you'd done it in tribute.

Atlasta · 31/08/2019 20:22

Really lovely

Sturmundcalm · 31/08/2019 20:24

my 19yo DD, despite the fact she always goes by Kate, still likes the fact she has Katherine as an option... i think it's fine to just go with the shortened version but giving her the full name does give more flexibility in future.

ElevenSmiles · 31/08/2019 20:29

I have an 18 year old called Kate.. love it

MikeUniformMike · 31/08/2019 20:31

I suppose. Katherine could be Kat, Kitty or Kathy too.

TraceyHorrobin · 31/08/2019 20:40

Lovely

I love Kate. I never tire of it. Right now neither Kate nor Katherine are in the top 100 names so good time to use it too.
