Which one sounds nicer?

Alba. Alma sounds like a goat name.

katesalwayslate · 28/08/2019 05:55

I like both but Alba is a bit fresher and cooler. It’s ancient and also has a modern vibe. It’s lovely. Alma is softer but maybe a tiny bit frumpy

Thatnovembernight · 28/08/2019 07:45

Alms is frumpy. Alba is better. There’s an Alba in Time Traveller’s Wife.

Thatnovembernight · 28/08/2019 07:45

That should say Alma! Autocorrect did not approve Grin

AverageMummy · 28/08/2019 07:52

I love both
Alba feels quirky and cool
Alma is more classic and pretty

Peachbubble · 28/08/2019 08:21

Alba

glitterbiscuits · 28/08/2019 08:29

Alba used to make stereos.

Alma may be one of the old lady names that comes back in fashion like Elsie.

999caffeineplease · 28/08/2019 08:33

Both are lovely, but the translation of Alma makes it a little bit lovelier for me.

pikapikachu · 28/08/2019 09:33

Alba is a budget electronics brand sold in Argos.

Alma fits the granny trend but isn't appealing to me- makes me think of an older character on Corrie.

Dahliyah · 28/08/2019 09:36

They're both lovely. Alma feels more timeless, Alba is fresher. I love them both, short and sweet and roll off the tongue.

user1493494961 · 28/08/2019 09:42

I think they're both dreadful. I don't see anything 'timeless' in Alma and as pp said, Alba is an electronics brand.

ilovemykids5 · 28/08/2019 13:35

I was going to call my dd Alba but after asking opinions on here and people commenting it was an electrical brand it put me off.

georgialondon · 28/08/2019 13:44

Alba, but yep it's a brand, but still better than Alma.

Sophronia · 29/08/2019 00:39

I prefer Alma.

W0rriedMum · 29/08/2019 00:41

How about Alva, the English version of the Irish name Ailbhe?

DramaAlpaca · 29/08/2019 00:42

If I had to choose I'd pick Alma. But to be honest I don't like either of them at all.

BackforGood · 29/08/2019 00:43

Not that keen on Alma, but Alba is the Scottish TV company.

DramaAlpaca · 29/08/2019 00:43

Oh yes, I agree with W0rried - Alva is nice. Though Ailbhe is even nicer.

Chocmallows · 29/08/2019 00:43

Alba, but Alma is ok.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 29/08/2019 00:45

I like the meanings of both from Spanish, but am a bit put off because Alba is Scottish Gaelic as well (there's BBC Alba).

EdtheBear · 29/08/2019 00:45

Alba is Gaelic for Scotland. As well as being a budget electric brand.
