Would love all your thoughts on this name!

I keep changing my mind but this is a new one that I’ve grown really keen on.

Due in 8 weeks so still have some time X

Actually love it, I can see Essie being a very cute childhood nickname with the option of using Esther as an adult if they wished. Essie is a brand but the worst association to have to a name, imo.

Thankyou :)

I really like it. I like Esther as a name - uncommon and actually quite elegant. I have never heard of Essie as a nickname but it's cute and "works". Go for it.

Colourfulest · 25/08/2019 19:51

My DD has a name similar to Esther and her nn is Essie sometimes. It actually came about because my friends 3yo daughter had another friend called Esther and they said she could call her Essie if Esther was too hard. Anyway, she was fine with Esther but struggled with my DD so she remembered the Essie option and gave it to her instead!

PrincessLouis · 25/08/2019 19:53

I like it too. I know one Essie (Essianna) age about 8

NatashaAlianovaRomanova · 25/08/2019 19:58

I love it... it's ex-h grans name & I wanted to use it for DD but he refused dickhead wouldn't even let me have it for a middle name

Atlasta · 25/08/2019 20:09

Lovely

percheron67 · 25/08/2019 20:10

I love Esther but not keen on Essie(Nessie).

Sophronia · 25/08/2019 23:59

I love Esther but prefer Esti as a nn.

FamilyOfAliens · 26/08/2019 00:01

She may not want a nickname though.

Why not choose the name you want on her birth certificate and let a nickname develop organically, rather than choosing it for her.

SageYourResoluteOracle · 26/08/2019 00:04

I love the name Esther and know one wee Esther who goes by the nn Hettie: v cute!

DramaAlpaca · 26/08/2019 00:10

Yes. Very nice.

RoseMartha · 26/08/2019 00:24

Esther - I like it

stoneagemum · 26/08/2019 00:31

Essie is annoying, Est is another shortening or S from some. And then there are the people that just can't spell so birthday cards etc say dear Easter😂 or if they have some idea that's not right go for Ester or Esta even worse on business comms, when the correctly spelt version is available

AverageMummy · 26/08/2019 02:49

I don’t love it myself but don’t hate it either- perfectly nice and normal choice

daisypond · 26/08/2019 07:43

I really like Esther but I’m not keen on Essie.

jenniuol · 26/08/2019 07:46

I do really quite like Esther! Not as keen on Essie, it makes me think of the nail polish.

Summerloving17 · 26/08/2019 09:48

Thanks everyone!
I think I will go with Esther and then the nickname can develop as some have said x

My DD2 is named Esther and really suits her name. I also love the meaning of star. Most people call her Esther, some family call her Essie or Es and I often call her Bessie or Bess- I didn't plan that to be her nickname but it evolved from Esther-bester (you're my bester Esther, it's a name with lots of rhyming potential!) We do get the odd mis-spelling but that happens to me
too, even with my very common name and she tells people you spell it est-her so it's not a problem.

joystir59 · 26/08/2019 21:55

Esther and forget nn.

CodenameVillanelle · 26/08/2019 22:14

Esther is nice. Forget about nicknames, they aren't necessary.

Tillygetsit · 26/08/2019 22:50

Big love from me. One of the funniest, most eccentric lovable women in the world is called Esther.
