Ada.

My DP loves it and I am on the fence.

One of the daughters in in the SmellyBelly YouTube Family is called Aydah.
Pronounced as Ada but spelt Aydah which I think looks better.
I quite like it spelt like that or as Ayda.

ladyratterley · 24/08/2019 23:26

LOVE it. It’s a strong name but still feminine. Ada Lovelace is an awesome namesake.

AverageMummy · 24/08/2019 23:34

I love it

user1493494961 · 25/08/2019 13:10

I don't understand the love on here for Ada, awful name.

bridgetreilly · 25/08/2019 14:04

I also thought of Ada Lovelace. I really like it, OP. Simple, pretty but not frilly or cutesy.

Oysterbabe · 25/08/2019 14:19

I like it.

Spoonsmum · 25/08/2019 14:25

We had chickens when I was a teenager and my dad named his one “daft Ada” as an homage to Darth Vader 🤣

joystir59 · 25/08/2019 14:27

My Auntie Ada was a sour old woman. So its a no from me

Marcipex · 25/08/2019 21:16

It’s honestly a bit dreary, like Martha and Ethel.

TokenGinger · 25/08/2019 21:36

I really like Ada :)

DramaAlpaca · 25/08/2019 21:38

It's honestly a bit dreary, like Martha and Ethel.

Exactly this.

Jellycat00 · 30/08/2019 10:39

It's lovely! Short and sweet.

OooErMissus · 30/08/2019 10:41

It feels incomplete. Like some old geezer started saying something, and then fell asleep.

whattodowith · 30/08/2019 15:48

Mine and DH’s favourite girls name.

CatteStreet · 30/08/2019 16:22

Lovely.

Why people hate Ada but rave about Ivy, Olive and Violet (to name but three examples) is beyond me.

MadameJosephine · 30/08/2019 16:26

Gorgeous name, makes me think of Ada Lovelace and this book which my DD loves

NoSauce · 30/08/2019 16:28

I hate Ivy too. Olive is pretty bad. I can’t stand Edith or Evelyn either.

Flappergirl86 · 31/08/2019 21:30

Adore it.

ABitOTT · 01/09/2019 01:48

One of those granny chic names I dislike sorry OP

devilishlygood · 01/09/2019 07:22

ONS have announced Ada’s growing popularity this year as a result of Peaky Blinders...

In the series, she’s an opinionated, feisty feminist.

I’m still a bit on the fence. It’s ‘fine’, but maybe a bit clunky or frumpy...

If you’re not 100% about it, hold your line and keep looking x

GreenFieldsofFrance · 01/09/2019 07:58

I know 3 children called Ada. Not my cup of tea but I doubt my kids' names are loved by all!

TheRedFox · 01/09/2019 08:08

A bit Peaky Blinders for me

IsobelRae23 · 01/09/2019 13:29

Horrible.

timetochangeagainforever · 01/09/2019 16:24

It's when you KNOW SONEINE CALLED Ada and I couldn't do that to a baby but I don't dislike it as a name. I'd probably go for Aida

Mamabear88 · 02/09/2019 14:15

I think it's nice but I also think if you aren't convinced then don't use it and try and find something you both love. My dh was set on the name Cara for our daughter and whilst I liked it I didn't love it and I wanted to love her name. We didn't end up calling her that and i'm glad. I think I would've regretted it.
