First name with Iris as middle name

DH and I have decided on Iris as a middle name, but aren't sure what to put in front of it Grin

We like nature based / floral names and have thought about

Violet Iris
Amber Iris
Melissa Iris (close to being ruled out as wouldn't want it shortened to Mel)

None of them are quite hitting it. Any suggestions?

What I’m saying is they are not often called out together after say a Christening or similar so I wouldn’t get all in a state about whether it’s an adjective or noun. Not many people name children after anatomy so must wouldn’t associate Iris with the eye, rather the flower as it’s s girls’ name.

I disagree Benji, but at the end of the day it's up to OP to figure it out. All I'm doing is providing my view on things.

I just find these threads bizarre. You will get half of the people saying awful name, yuck, can’t stand it and the other saying they love it. What’s the point as you say, op will have to choose and live with her choice. Can’t understand being influenced by random people who may or may not be your type of person in real life ! There are several a day now.

If you both like Iris why don't you use that for her first name?

NCB2019 · 25/08/2019 22:26

I don't think Iris works as a middle name. It needs to be a first name. IMO.

@Benjispruce, I couldn't care less whether other people like the name I choose or not. I asked on here because I'd run out of ideas, and several people have suggested names I hadn't thought of which I'm now considering :)
Also the eye colour thing hadnt occurred to me at all until I posted on here. If I'd named my baby Hazel Iris and 2 weeks later someone pointed it out, I'd have wished I chose something different. Not because of other people not liking it, but because now I've seen it like that it sounds silly. I have seen many other posts where people want actual opinions, but I was hoping for new suggestions and perspectives. Hopefully that makes sense...

I love Harriet Iris! Gorgeous.

This may be very personal, but Violet Iris makes me think 'virus' 🙈. I love Iris as a name though.
