Boys names you don't really hear?

I'm expecting next year, we're not going to find out but I want to have some choice.

When pregnant with DS we had loads of girls names and no boys..

DS actually got named after the student nurse's son who helped me bf and had a little one, who was naughty like my little one (not latching on). But I had to see his face (sounds stupid) before we named him too.

So I like (could change) Frankie, Theo and Rowan. We liked Bear but my parents hate it..

I like meanings to names too, so something with a lovely meaning could swing it for me.

Thank you

The name Arthur means bear (sorry if someone has already said that)

Nathan - gift from god

@Richlyfruited I'm in Wales, we've got Elliott, Harrisons, Alfie, Felix, Dillion, logan Christopher's, Richards in our family as its quite large. I don't really want to step on toes and go simular, it's hard. But I really like some of those, Dominic is something I hadn't considered.

Thank you if you said Nathan and Arthur too, I've probably seen alot of these but glossed over them and now I see them I think they could go quite nice with my sons name.

Anyone have the problem where you find a nice name but then know/was in school with someone called it and remembered they were irratating or an idiot 😂?

JenZenn, what's wrong with Ptolemy? It's hardly Jayden or one of those awful 'surnames as first names' things.

cushioncovers · 24/08/2019 21:59

I like Bear.
Every other guy at work is Matt(hew), so I couldn't think of that as little heard.

Finn, Blake, Cory, Colby, Asher, Abel, Seth, Joel, Mark?

BrutusMcDogface · 24/08/2019 22:12

Neo is fab! I wish I’d thought of that!

Blaise means “deformed/stuttering”.....

Brian?! It’s a very old mans name but I love bryony for a girl, so.... plus it reminds me of bear in a way. Bri for short.

Tristan? Though I think that might be popular in some areas (not mine!)

Michael- bit old school, not very popular with little ones. But I love the name!

BrutusMcDogface · 24/08/2019 22:13

Cushion- you pronounce Ptolemy like this: TOLL-em-ee.

I think.

Baffled by anyone wondering about how Ptolemy is pronounced.

Imonlymoominafterall · 24/08/2019 22:32

I know a Ptolemy - Calls himself Tom. Avoid Saul - he'll be called That Saul (my friend was anyway!)

I met a wee boy called Nico recently and thought that was really cool.

ritzbiscuits · 24/08/2019 22:40

It could be worth looking at some name lists from other countries eg France, German, Italy etc.

My DS is called Florian, a very popular name in Germany but practically unheard of here. He's certainly the only one locally, and he has a lot of character so a different name really suits him.

Blossom28 · 24/08/2019 22:45

How about Rohan OP?

PointlessUsername · 24/08/2019 22:55

Joshua - haven't come accross one for a while.

Malachy means Angel/gods messenger

Insieme · 24/08/2019 22:57

Lucien
