Boys names you don't really hear?

I'm expecting next year, we're not going to find out but I want to have some choice.

When pregnant with DS we had loads of girls names and no boys..

DS actually got named after the student nurse's son who helped me bf and had a little one, who was naughty like my little one (not latching on). But I had to see his face (sounds stupid) before we named him too.

So I like (could change) Frankie, Theo and Rowan. We liked Bear but my parents hate it..

I like meanings to names too, so something with a lovely meaning could swing it for me.

Thank you

I met a baby Jeffrey today. That was a surprise but it's actually quite cute!

Love all of these:
Ambrose
Aubrey
Elmo
Maurice
Graham
Trevor

I don't like 'Bear' either, seems a silly name to me.

Gregory is good, not common right now. It's a strong sort of name and 'Greg' is blokeish and friendly.

Hugh
Phillip
Arlo

Loads of lovely comments about Theo/Theodore. I really do like Theo and the meaning of it is why it went on my list. And Teddy could come into play as a nickname.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not like looking for something youll never hear, my son has a little boy with the same name in nursery I just fancied something a bit different. It's hard to word it i guess.

Thank you everyone, I really like Blaise too. Trouble is alot of the names like Felix, Archie, Elliott, Richard and Christopher ect are in my family as I have quite a large close family with lots of children (one of my cousins has 7 kids).

Bear is out lol.. I think we have a soft spot as DS was our little bear when he was born. It won't be used.

@Ginxed @MrsGilly1

Oh Arlo and Aubery, they are something I haven't considered.

DH have to be arm twisted on some of these.

Could say Gary or Keith could be the worst boys names ever really.

You could - but at least they’re actual names, unlike Bear.

Danglingmod · 23/08/2019 06:51

Some of the names I would consider right now:

Gregory
Peter
Clive
Nicholas
Alistair/Alisdair
Jonathan/Jonty

I reckon most men would be less embarrassed introducing themselves as Gary!

Lovethetimeyouhave · 23/08/2019 09:58

Neo - means new or 'gift' in African

whattodowith · 23/08/2019 10:01

Bear is a diminutive of Edward which is a very lovely name.

Theo is very common and has been for some time now.

MissPepper8 · 23/08/2019 10:21

@FamilyOfAliens There are people who use it as a name (Kate Winslet, Cheryl Cole) but I'm not using it like I said.. Do you actually have any names to add or?

@AverageMummy I like Francis that was on list, Husband said no :(

@DonEmmanuelsDingleberries Ellis and Seth I like, Casper was on DS list but I changed my mind just cause I thought they'd associate it with the film :/

No, I confess I wouldn’t know what to suggest to someone who loves the word Bear as a name Grin

Good chat 👍🏻

Weird as I know lots of boys called Arlo, Miles and Luca! I guess some names are regional in popularity.

Names I like that aren't regularly used:
Alistair
Laurence (Laurie is a lovely NN)
Dominic
Russell (Russ is cute!)
Peter
