Don't know what we are having but going with a scandi name (same with ds1). Boys name already decided!

I feel like I'm going mad with the girls list going round my head in circles, some names I really like, but feel like I'm less likely to use them for various reasons, some I like but are probably too safe... There must isn't a stand out name me and I worry i will slightly regret whatever we choose... Help!

Freja
Maja
Astrid
Emma
Matilda
Malin
Aida

Love Malin, I think it’s so cool, easy to spell and original.

Emma, classic beautiful but common.

I would be unsure how to pronounce/spell - Freja, Maja, Aida. Depends if you mind correcting people.

RandDandC · 20/08/2019 21:05

Freja - lovely
Maya - not sure of pronunciation but if it’s what I presume also lovely
Astrid - gorgeous and unique
Emma - very common but still nice
Matilda - only if you don’t mind people nn it to Tillie. Not me favourite.
Marlin - never heard this and I’m not sure how I feel
Aida - beautiful

missmouse101 · 20/08/2019 21:06

Freja best of the lot, hands down.

aibutohavethisusername · 20/08/2019 21:08

I went to school with a lovely Swedish girl with the name Marlin, with an r.

17caterpillars1mouse · 20/08/2019 21:13

I really like Malin, unusual and quirky but heard of. Perfect

Loveislandaddict · 20/08/2019 21:16

Scandinavian royal names
Estelle
Silvea
Adrienne
Leonora
Sofia
Maud
Leah
Astrid

Not particularly Scandi-sounding

Love Astrid

sugarplumfairy28 · 20/08/2019 21:25

Freja, can't believe don't recognise this spelling, lovely name.
Maja I think at least in Germany (I live in Germany) its a little over used for dogs
Astrid - bit too harsh for my liking
Emma - classic
Matilda - love this name
Malin - unusual, nice
Aida - love this.

Maybe not scandi, but some names I hear often here, Erica, Xenia, Lina, Evelyn, Emilia

Matilda

BendydickCuminsnatch · 20/08/2019 21:27

I looooooooooove Malin, they always seem like such cool people. I don’t know if it’s dated or not but I’ve always liked the name Ebba. Again the one I know is super cool. Maybe coolness is just a general scandi thing 😄

Fgsdl · 20/08/2019 21:31

Freja ❤️

Twitney · 20/08/2019 21:33

Lena is nice too. My friend’s mum’s name, Finnish

Atlasta · 20/08/2019 21:35

Prefer Astrid.

MikeUniformMike · 20/08/2019 21:38

Are you in the UK? I'll assume that you are.

Freja - Freya is a bit too popular. This will get Fredge-a.
Maja - Maia is a bit too popular. This will get Madge-a
Astrid - lovely
Emma - classic
Matilda - A bit too popular
Malin - A bit Shipping Forecast area. How about Utsira?
Aida - Eye-da or Aid-a?

WildCherryBlossom · 20/08/2019 21:41

I love Malin and Astrid. So beautiful!

sometimesalways · 20/08/2019 21:43

How about Pernilla?

Tillygetsit · 20/08/2019 22:51

Malin is just beautiful. Cool Scandi magic.

Shadow1234 · 21/08/2019 00:22

Malin is lovely

MrsBertBibby · 21/08/2019 06:53

Malin and Astrid. Lovely. The rest are a bit meh.

Peachbubble · 21/08/2019 08:14

I like Malin the best

bridgetreilly · 21/08/2019 08:41

I would assume that Aida is like the opera and pronounce it Eye-ee-dah (three syllables).

I like Emma and Matilda.

Jellycat00 · 21/08/2019 08:47

Freja - pretty
Maja- nice, but very similar to Maya which i find a tiny bit dull.
Astrid - nice, growing on me
Emma - classic and beautiful. I don't know any little Emma's under 10. I think she'd stand out!
Matilda - a bit dull
Malin - pretty. But makes me think of the wizard!
Aida - pretty. Will get mistaken for Ada, but that doesn't necessarily bother you.

TheLetterOfTheLawTheLetter · 21/08/2019 20:59

Thank you for all your responses, it really helps! I think we will have to really consider how it will sound alongside ds1 as well, thinking Freja and Malin are front runners for now!
