I love it, if I'd had another DD, I would of chosen Verity. Never given much thought to a nn, but I do like Vivi, does it need to be shortened tho?

MrsBertBibby · 19/08/2019 13:31

Verity is nice. Vivi is tweets. Nicknames should develop not be planned.

thenailtechmom · 19/08/2019 13:31

@YouFellAsleep
I love the nn Vivi but prefer Verity to Vivienne!

It's not at all common where I'm from and I've have loved it since I first heard it. That's our girl name choice!

I don’t think you’ll get viv from verity. The verity I knew went by velly and vel

Frith2013 · 19/08/2019 19:38

Vivi makes me think of vivisection.

CodenameVillanelle · 19/08/2019 19:48

Vivi isn't short for verity but verity is a nice name.

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 19/08/2019 19:48

Love it

IVEgottheDECAF · 19/08/2019 19:50

Love Verity

Hate Vivi

Yodude · 19/08/2019 19:51

I like Verity but would never call a girl or woman outside of my family Vivi. It feels like a pet name for a very close family member.

Thesearmsofmine · 19/08/2019 19:53

I love Verity. I don’t like Vivi,

Ellmau · 19/08/2019 21:04

Well, you CAN call your child whatever nn you choose, but I don't think it follows naturally.

Vevvy/Vevi works a little more naturally from Verity, at least it's the same starting sound.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 19/08/2019 21:08

Verity is nice.

Vivi (short for Vivienne) is nice.

I can’t see how Vivi is short / a nickname for Verity though. They have the same first letter but that is it. It is like announcing your son is called Callum - nickname Chris.

DramaAlpaca · 19/08/2019 21:10

Verity is OK I suppose, but Vivi isn't exactly a natural diminutive of it.

ChicCroissant · 19/08/2019 21:15

You won't get Vivi from Verity though - what is it with this trend of trying to use a nickname that you like but pairing it with a full name it doesn't fit? Vivienne is usually shortened to Viv anyway, but I'm guessing you don't like Viv either OP?

It's really hard to enforce a nickname, so as long as you won't be disappointed if no one calls her Vivi ...

TheWeeMacGregors · 19/08/2019 21:31

We have a Verity and she is either that, or V, or Ettie. All three get used.

Vasya · 20/08/2019 12:03

I like Verity, not so keen on Vivi

inwood · 20/08/2019 12:56

Verity was top of my list, DH vetoed it. Don't like ViVi.

PuffHuffle5 · 20/08/2019 13:00

I don’t really understand choosing nicknames for children. If you plan on calling her Vivi most of the time, be brave and just call her that. I do like it btw.

BigusBumus · 20/08/2019 13:18

Verity is a lovely name, but Vivi sounds like you have just shoehorned that nn onto the name as you like it so much. Could you just actually call her Vivi in real life?

SciFiScream · 20/08/2019 17:57

I know a wonderful, wonderful Verity. She generally gets Vee for short.

Verity is a beautiful name, although agree with PP nicknames should be developed not planned, I wouldn't get from Verity to Vivi to be fair.
