Gabriel and Ruari are my favourites.

itbemay1 · 19/08/2019 09:36

Also love Seosamh (Joseph) - we're Irish Smile

hungryhippie · 19/08/2019 09:44

Sebastian would be nice with your French surname

Vasya · 19/08/2019 09:47

Gabriel - no, too ridiculous
Dominic - nice
Ruairi (is it getting too popular?) - lovely
Sebastian - lovely
Torin - nooooo
Odhran (Pronounced Oar-an) - gorgeous - my favourite

MrsBertBibby · 19/08/2019 09:49

Torin. Fab name.

Mollyboboff · 19/08/2019 10:56

Gabriel -like
Dominic- favourite
Ruairi (is it getting too popular?) - yes popular
Sebastian - meh
Torin - I live near a company called this
Odhran (Pronounced Oar-an)- will have to spell / repeat how to pronounce all of his life.

IsobelRae23 · 19/08/2019 11:38

Gabriel -like
Dominic- ok
Ruairi (is it getting too popular?) - yes popular
Sebastian - like
Torin - Like. But it’s a bit like ‘Touring’ which makes it meh
Odhran- no

shawnaander · 19/08/2019 11:52

Sebastian is my favourite.

LarkDescending · 19/08/2019 13:59

Sebastian or Dominic for me.

starkid · 19/08/2019 15:16

I like Sebastian from your list :)

Shadow1234 · 19/08/2019 15:41

Torin is the best. Not keen on the others.

NotAMomma · 19/08/2019 15:55

IMO Gabriel is the best 10/10 from me. I love that name! Sebastian is ok so 7/10 and the rest are 1-2/10.

user1493494961 · 19/08/2019 17:10

Really like Gabriel, Dominic and Sebastian. Never heard of Odhran, like some Irish names but not this one.

whattodowith · 19/08/2019 17:11

I only like Sebastian.

Pemba · 19/08/2019 17:24

I like the first four names a lot. Not Torin or Odhran that much, maybe because I never heard of them before. I suppose they might grow on me.

Frith2013 · 19/08/2019 19:24

Gabriel - ok
Dominic - meh
Ruairi (is it getting too popular?) - too popular
Sebastian - bit fussy for me
Torin - nice
Odhran (Pronounced Oar-an) no. Makes me think of a bodhran.

roisinagusniamh · 20/08/2019 00:09

My favourite is Odhran.
But my partner thought it sounded like the beginning of Orange 😅
Love the name Gabe too.
I think the poster that worries if she named a child iGabe he may get bullied at school because of the gay sound at the beginning is sad ( and perhaps a bit bigoted)

DramaAlpaca · 20/08/2019 00:12

I like all of them, I don't think you'll go far wrong with any of them. My favourites are Ruairi & Dominic. Sebastian is probably my least favourite but as someone else said, it'll go great with a French surname.

Ellmau · 20/08/2019 00:38

Gabriel - love
Dominic - OK
Ruairi - nice name, but your child will have trouble getting people to spell and pronounce it right outside Ireland, Rory may work better
Sebastian - love
Torin - not heard of before, but I like it, maybe a little bit Tolkieny though?
Odhran (Pronounced Oar-an) - same issue as Ruairi

TidyDancer · 20/08/2019 10:16

Gabriel and Sebastian are my favourites.

Can't stand Torin but I think this is mainly because my old school bully gave her DS this as a middle name and I just associate it with her.

Your Irish choices are lovely but do give some consideration to where you are planning to raise your DS. I'm not saying don't use them solely for this reason but there could be a lifetime of mispronunciations and misspellings.

autumnkate · 20/08/2019 11:59

Dislike Sebastian quite a lot. I’d go with your Celtic options personally.

Do you like Oisin?

MyCatDrinksFlatWhites · 20/08/2019 16:58

I think my favourites are Dominic and Gabriel, followed by Sebastian. I'm not familiar with, and less keen on, Torin.

Ruari and Odhran are lovely, I particularly like Odhran - but I do think he will have to spell his name out most of the time if you live outside the typical "catchment area" for that name, if you see what I mean (ie somewhere people are unfamiliar with it).

ButterflyOfFreedom · 20/08/2019 17:00

Dominic is my fav.

Also like Gabriel & Sebastian.

Exitstrategist · 20/08/2019 17:07

Yes, I like Oisin but it’s already been used in the Irish family recently!
