Cecily - pretentious
Artemis - don’t like at all
Isla - love it but vv popular atm
Emily - like but a bit bland
Elizabeth - like. Lots of nn potential and a classic, timeless name.
Summer - love!!! So so so pretty.
Lola - nice. Like L sound names a lot. However I much prefer Leila.
Darcey - quite like. prefer spelling without e

Summer is my fave x

DramaAlpaca · 18/08/2019 21:14

I'm not fond of Artemis, Darcey or Summer, but all the rest are nice.

AverageMummy · 18/08/2019 21:14

Cecily - not keen
Artemis - really don’t like
Isla - very pretty
Emily - ok
Elizabeth - not a fan but Libby & Beth are sweet nns
Summer - definitely a no
Lola - awful although Lila & Leila are lovely
Darcey - ok

imamearcat · 18/08/2019 21:25

I have an Elizabeth. I love that it has so many nn options.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 18/08/2019 21:30

I think I have the opposite opinion to everyone else!

Cecily - love it
Artemis - love it
Isla - sooo popular
Emily - fine, a bit boring in comparison to some of your choices
Elizabeth - nice, lots of potential for shortenings
Summer - I don’t like it
Lola - she was a showgirl. I actually like the name, but the song jumps into my head the second I hear the name
Darcey - dreadful

HarryRug · 18/08/2019 21:32

Summer, Darcey and Lola are popular names and don’t pass the “Dr” test in my opinion. They all sound like retail staff. Nothing wrong with that, but none sound like the Prime Minister to me.

Artemis - wasn’t he one of the three musketeers? Very out there.

The rest - classic and classless. Each could be a cleaner, accountant or artist etc. All good.

daisypond · 18/08/2019 21:32

Very mixed list.
Cecily- nice
Artemis - ok but hard to pull off
Isla- commonplace and now downmarket
Emily - ok but dull
Elizabeth - like lots
Summer - ok-ish but downmarket
Lola- no, it’s a bland trashy nickname
Darcey- awful, downmarket

HarryRug · 18/08/2019 21:34

Ignore me (most people do) musketeer was Aramis!

malibuloving · 18/08/2019 21:39

My favs are:
Isla
Emily
Summer
Ruby

Tillygetsit · 18/08/2019 22:45

Artemis, Cassie or Ruby 👌

user1493494961 · 18/08/2019 22:48

A very mixed list. Dislike Summer, Lola, Darcey and Honey.

CatteStreet · 18/08/2019 22:51

Like Cecily, Elizabeth, Artemis and Emily. I think Cecily is the best; pretty and unusual. How about Athene or Alethea?

Those names are very different in tone from your others, which I really don't like (Isla is nice but done to death).

CatteStreet · 18/08/2019 22:54

HarryRug, for all your scorn on 'retail staff' Hmm, you don't seem that educated; Artemis was a Greek goddess.

CatteStreet · 18/08/2019 22:55

Ah, I see you've corrected yourself, but you still sound something of a snob.

PointlessUsername · 18/08/2019 22:57

Cecily
Lola
Darcy
Honey
Cassie

The others i am not keen on.

Heratnumber7 · 18/08/2019 22:57

Isn't Artemis a boys name? He was one of the three musketeers. And it's an aftershave.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 18/08/2019 23:17

Cecily. Unless you’re upper class. It’s just being something you’re not. Although if I had to swear to it. I do like the actual sound of it.
Artemis. See above. Only difference being. I think it’s a dreadful name. Yes Cecily I can imagine as name, but Who is actually called Artemis in the real world.
I do wait for someone to tell me there are 10 in their parent and baby group.
Isla. I’m hot and cold with this.
If it’s said nicely and not long drawn out like Aaaaaahhler then yes it’s an okay name.
Emily. I can’t fault it. Very sweet and pretty.
Elizabeth. See Emily. Although do you like all the potential nns that the name Elizabeth has.
Lola. One of the most horrible girls names there is
Summer. Can’t stand this. Although it is a cheerful name. However I’d only use if she is born in Summer. It’d be a tad daft on a child born in on freezing cold November evening.
Darcey. Love this. I picture a dark haired little girl who’s always laughing.

All that being said though. Opinions are one thing. Facts are another

malibuloving · 18/08/2019 23:33

@aww

We’re not upper class, no Grin We’re probably MC but DH granny was called Cecily and we just love it Grin

Thanks all, we are probably going to go with Cecily, Elizabeth or Ruby Smile

My favourites of your first list are Artemis, Summer, Elizabeth and Cecily. I like Emily but find it over-used, and not so keen on Isla, Lola and Darcey.

I like all 3 of your revised list - Cecily, Elizabeth and Ruby.

BlueWonder · 19/08/2019 01:13

Cecily is my favourite. A traditional name, not super-popular yet and lovely that you have a family connection.

So many Elizabeths in the world already, though do love Lizzie/
Libby/Beth nn's

So many 11-14 yesr old's named Ruby at the moment that they always have to be known as Ruby Initial or Ruby Surname, even in own friendship groups. Three of them in one sports team of 12 girls for example.

Another name that seems to fit with your group would be Lydia.

IckleBear · 19/08/2019 13:02

Love Cecily and Artemis
