I love the name Riel (ree-el) for a boy but does it sound way too corny with our last name...Riel Wild?

😂😂

MrsTerryPratchett · 17/08/2019 02:21

What were the 3 points for?

Emelene · 17/08/2019 03:39

It would be pronounced Real Wild often I think. I'd keep looking OP.

Tallsocks · 17/08/2019 04:20

Ugh, yeah, I kind of know deep down that it's not going to work but I've liked that name since I was about 10 so I was looking for some positives! I have the same problem with the other name I like, though, which is Cohen. 😫

OP posts:
IckleBear · 17/08/2019 08:22

Cohen is better

BlueBilledBeatboxingBird · 17/08/2019 08:53

Please be careful with Cohen. It is a religious rank like ‘priest’ and as a Hebrew surname it denotes a very specific Jewish heritage.

MiniMaxi · 17/08/2019 08:56

Cohen Wild! Grin

IsobelRae23 · 17/08/2019 10:14

You are making these up right? You are not being serious?
In case you are for real, please don’t.

IsobelRae23 · 17/08/2019 10:15

And forget Ivor too

TheVanguardSix · 17/08/2019 10:20

Rielly??? Confused
Is this even riel?

Frith2013 · 17/08/2019 10:46

I used to like the Really Wild Show.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 17/08/2019 11:29

Riel wild one.
I’d assume Riel was short for Gabriel. It’s a nine name but obviously not with your surname

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 17/08/2019 11:30

He’s Cohen a bit wild, there.
Sorry to disappoint thee, but. That doesn’t work either.

Antonin · 17/08/2019 12:29

How about Keil or Keillor?

Tallsocks · 17/08/2019 12:33

Nope, not making these up. I've always liked the name Cohen but know that it's a definite"no" with our last name. I thought I could maybe get away with Riel, since the emphasis is on the "L" (ree-"L") but I don't think that's going to work, either. Other suggestions welcome.

I don't think we have the same taste in names.

SteeperThanHell · 17/08/2019 12:39

Cohen (goin’) Wild - Riel-y

toadabode · 17/08/2019 12:43

Don't do it!

devilishlygood · 17/08/2019 18:03

Aww, I’m feeling you OP. I really love Tait, but it wouldn’t work with DH's surname.

Have the option of using my surname as I didn’t take his, but DH has two other kids and they have his surname so I feel like mine should too.

If it helps, I think they’re lovely and unusual names...

Torben? Or Kerr?

lostinthewheatfield · 17/08/2019 18:08

How about Gabriel on bc but you use riel at home? Then whenever first and surname are used ( rarely even at school) it will be Gabriel.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 17/08/2019 18:10

It’d be a bit confusing if he was Riel at home and Gabriel at school. Your name is either abbreviated or it’s not.

devilishlygood · 17/08/2019 18:24

I don’t see why you’d shorten Gabriel to Riel. Just because the letters are there? They’re two totally different names!
