Lola Jane

Friend who is non mums-netter has asked me to post this and send replies to her.

Her thoughts are that Lola has (likely) been and had its day - yet it’s still the name she’s liked most for the past five or six years... in your opinion, is it too dated already or still acceptable to use?

Lola Jane would be the full name. Half sister is Polly and is five (if that makes a difference?)

She loves both the Kinks song and the Manilow song so those don’t have negative connotations for her ...

Comments gratefully received Grin

MamaOfBothTeams · 12/08/2019 20:17

My cousins little girl is 5 and called Lola, I like it :)

Robs20 · 12/08/2019 20:18

Love it!

Atlasta · 12/08/2019 20:20

Really like Lola. Goes well with Jane and it complements Polly.
I would be happy to use it. It's not as popular as it was but that's a good thing.
It was never overly popular where I live anyway and as a result I don't think it will date badly.

Jane is so boring. And I say that as 50% of 1970s born women who have it as a middle name.

Frith2013 · 12/08/2019 20:43

*as ONE OF the 50%

Awful, stripper name.

For 70's women, true, but these days it would be a refreshing change from Mae. I don't understand the point of filler names at all. If they want a longer name, pick a longer name.

Ninago · 12/08/2019 21:14

I really like it.

Is every name that's not Elizabeth, Olivia and Sophia etc a stripper name on MN Hmm

Changedname81 · 12/08/2019 21:27

Jane is her mums name and she was born in the 60s Grin it’s non negotiable

Thanks for the comments so far - I’m whatsapping them over Flowers

SoftBlocks · 12/08/2019 22:12

Love Jane, not keen on Lola.

Yodude · 12/08/2019 22:18

I came into the thread to say it was too overly sweet for me but in the time it has taken me to read the other replies it has grown on me. Lola Jane. Nice.

Tillygetsit · 12/08/2019 22:21

It's very cute and lovely with Polly.

BelulahBlanca · 12/08/2019 22:21

I like it a lot Grin

cookie1991 · 12/08/2019 22:21

Love it! Such a pretty name

Untamedtoad · 12/08/2019 23:00

Lola is a beautiful name, suits a baby, child and adult perfectly well, and Jane as a middle name flows nicely and is a wonderful way to honour her mum. The fact Lola isn't as used as it used to be, is only a good thing as means shes unlikely to be one of five in her class! (Although I do know of two Lola's born in the last year so equally wouldn't consider it as dated) Lola Jane, lovely.

Sophronia · 12/08/2019 23:48

I’m not keen on Lola. It does go quite well with Polly though.

TildaTurnip · 12/08/2019 23:54

I’m not overly keen but I do like Jane!

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 13/08/2019 13:24

Lola is an awful name, in my opinion. I like Jane though.

Antonin · 13/08/2019 14:26

Not my choice but it does grow on one as a previous poster says.
Goes well with Jane and goes nicely with Polly.
All in all a good choice

whattodowith · 14/08/2019 15:55

Lola has some fairly poor musical connotations, I’ve never been a fan of it.

whattodowith · 14/08/2019 15:59

Lola by The Kinks
Copacabana by Barry Manilow

Not exactly good connotations.

Changedname81 · 14/08/2019 17:33

She’s at a certain point in her life where transvestites and “show girls” aren’t offensive to her Grin

Thanks for your comments all the same
