I don't love any names this time around!

Don't know if it's a boy or girl, so suggestions for either would be good. Current child is called Edward and surname begins with a W. Names I quite like are:

Charlotte (but not Lottie or Charlie)
Edith (but doesn't go with Edward)
Molly
Martha

Thomas (but a bit boring)
William (but a bit of a mouthful with our surname)

I like the more classic names with easy spelling, not particularly bothered if the name is popular/doesn't need to be especially unique. Middle name for girl would probably be Hannah or Edgar for a boy. Any ideas?!

I don’t think naming names will help everyone. I’m stuck having used the only name we could agree on for our first. If we have another we have no idea what to do.

All those names listed above are on our agreed “no” list.

Well I LOVE Martha for you. It's classic, classy, not faddish yet seems fitting for 2019, feminine, underused, easy to spell, goes beautifully with Edward, goes well with a W surname (eg. Martha Wilkinson; Martha Wells) AND was the name of the sweetest girl in the Sound of Music. I'm not sure why other girls' names are being suggested when you've found the perfect one already.

I think Thomas is indeed a bit boring and less striking than Edward, but it does go well with Edward and a W surname. I don't love it though and would avoid if your surname is also quite common though. William with a W surname is ok but it sounds like it doesn't wow you much. You obviously like strong classic English boys names with continuing popularity over the ages, so I'd have a consider of David, Alexander, Matthew, Daniel, John, all of which I'd say are in the exact same family as Thomas, Edward and William. Some of them like John and David sound really fresh and different these days and Alexander is a grand stylish name however often it's been used.
