Does this middle name sound strange with our chosen first name?

Our 20-week scan showed that we're having a girl, which is amazing and exciting - even more so because we couldn't agree on a boys name :-)

We both love Orla as a first name - reflects Irish heritage (we're using an anglicised version rather than Orlaith or Orlagh though as we live in England) and I'd love to use a much-loved and missed relative's name as a middle name, but DH isn't sure it "goes" with Orla.

What do you all think of Orla Joanie?

Yes, I agree that Orla Joan works so much better.

Marcipex · 12/08/2019 17:53

I think Orla Joan sounds better.

OtraCosaMariposa · 12/08/2019 17:59

Orla Joanie sounds like a drunk person trying to say Orginally.

Joan is much better.

ThunderR0ad78 · 12/08/2019 18:01

I love it! Go for it!

ThunderR0ad78 · 12/08/2019 18:03

And that's for Joanie.....much before this, it's softer!

Orla Joan is beautiful. I can't see the OJ thing happening unless you start it 😂 and Orla is so lovely I don't see why you would

MrsDimmond · 12/08/2019 18:06

Yes, Orla Joan sounds lovely - much better than Orla Joanie (I think its two names ending in vowels rather than syllables but eho knows Grin)

Danglingmod · 12/08/2019 18:09

I love both names. Joanie (or Jeanie) would be a possible first name if we'd ever had a girl BUT I think Orla Joan works and sounds much better together.

daisypond · 12/08/2019 18:58

Oria Joan is great. Joanie isn't so good.

I think it's going to be Orla Joan - thanks everyone . . . primarily because of @OtraCosaMariposa's comment 😆

riotlady · 12/08/2019 20:27

Lovely :)

RedPandaFluff · 12/08/2019 20:42

Oh god does it, @IceAndFire0 ?! I didn't know that! Fada it is 😆

I prefer Orla Joanie
It goes and it is more modern
