Adelyn, Adelaide? Thoughts?

(Using my sister floss’s account since I don’t have one!)

Due a DD mid Sept and liking Adelyn (Add uh lin) and Adelaide. (Too Australian?) They are so pretty imo and like nn Addie. But I’m not sold. Also should add I dislike Adeline (line not lin) so not using that.

DS (2) is Alexander Jr and known as Sandy or sometimes AJ to everyone atm.

Thoughts?

Adela?

Never heard of Adelyn.

Adelaide

Love Adelaide but worry it’s too fussy

Love Adelaide. It was my great grandmother’s name. I think it’s definitely due a comeback.

Sophronia · 11/08/2019 21:43

Love your DS’s name too. Alexander nn Sandy was on our shortlist for our DS.

Helenluvsrob · 11/08/2019 21:45

Do you really want Adele / Adela ?
Adelaide is nice though. Adelyn is probably doing to be said Adeline until you’ve corrected, which isn’t the end of the world though it’ll be annoying.

Astronica · 12/08/2019 00:37

I love Adelaide, a stylish traditional name. I really dislike Adelyn which sounds like an American mashup (they love lyn ending names).

tryingtobebetterallthetime · 12/08/2019 00:40

Adelaide was my grandmother's middle name. Adelia was my other grandmother's middle name. I love both of them.

The Adelaide was born in Canada. The Adelia was born in Finland.

veeboo · 12/08/2019 02:32

I know an Adeline. I prefer that or Adelyn.

absolutehush · 12/08/2019 02:43

I like Adelaide but have you considered Adrienne? Is also nice and very similar

Jellycat00 · 12/08/2019 05:44

I'm not personally a fan of either Adelaide or Adeline, and much prefer the suggestions of either Adele or Adrienne.

Groomer · 12/08/2019 06:25

My DD is an Adelaide. She absolutely loves her name and it really suits her! It's becoming increasingly popular, as is Addie.

OtraCosaMariposa · 12/08/2019 07:35

Adelaide is a great name! Adelyn isn't.

IsobelRae23 · 12/08/2019 14:18

Adelyn reminds me of an American drug, but I don’t know what?!

HelenaJustina · 12/08/2019 14:21

I love Adelaide, was on my lists for DC.

starkid · 12/08/2019 14:46

I also like the nickname Addie/Adi.

How about Adalia?

QuimReaper · 12/08/2019 14:52

Adelaide is lovely!

Addison would also work for "Addie".

QuimReaper · 12/08/2019 14:53

If you like Adelyn I'd at least spell is "Adeline". The Y looks a bit dated.

Kokeshi123 · 12/08/2019 14:55

Adelaide is really lovely, and no, not too Australian--it was a popular European name long before the Australian city was thus named.

Adelyn etc. sounds like a half-arsed combination of "Adele" plus every name that's ever ended in "~lyn."

Shadow1234 · 12/08/2019 16:59

Adelaide is lovely, much nicer than Adelyn

lottiegarbanzo · 12/08/2019 17:18

Adelyn sounds someone got Madelyn / leine wrong.

WednesdaySpinner · 12/08/2019 17:29

I went to school with an Adelyn 20 years ago, I haven't met another one since but I do like the name. I prefer it to Adelaide but that is also a nice name. Addie as a nn is lovely.

Cathyheathcliff · 12/08/2019 17:33

Adelaide is my favourite
