Hi All,

Not all details are 100% accurate as I dont want to be traced back to, but premise is accurate.

This is my first post, we already have a 8 yr old LB who is called Oliver George (first name was name we both liked, yes I know its common! and George was a grandfather name)

We are currently TTC, if we have another boy he will be Elliot James, (Elliott is a name we both like and James actually is "made up" of names of family members, Judy, Anna, Martin, es as there isnt another Male name in our family we'd like to carry on but like the idea of it having a meaning, nothing too scary there, traditional and not overly used, easy spelling etc.....

however it is the LG name that I "worry about" I love the name Lois for a LG , my MN is Louise and my niece is also called Louise and I think its a nice "nod to" my MN without repeating it, with a middle name of either Jude or Edie
so either Lois Jude or Lois Edie, both MN have a meaning to them, my mum passed away 18 month ago and her name was Judy (i hate this, and so did my mum, she tried to get ppl to call her Jude but it didnt stick! A nick name she did have from my Dad was Edie which I dont LOVE for a FN but think I like for a MN.....

Any thoughts would be lovely!!

Lois Edie is gorgeous. and its lovely that the names have meaning behind them too

Shadow1234 · 08/08/2019 16:12

Lois Edie is lovely.

NoSauce · 08/08/2019 16:16

I would choose Jude or Judith after your mum!

ShesBroodyandMoody · 08/08/2019 16:17

What do you think of the sibling "Matchiness" is there too many L's in either choices?

oLIver?
eLLIot?
LOis?
Does it sound too samey?

@nosauce, Judith is too dated for my liking, but Jude it an option

I would find those repeating sounds a pleasant, gentle connection rather than a really noticeable rhyme/pattern. And I do think we all favour certain letters or sounds, so it makes sense that some overlap!

NoSauce · 08/08/2019 16:22

Yes they are a bit samey.

What about James, Arthur, Benedict, Gabriel, Henry, Peter?

Or

Annabel, Harriet, Jemima, Isabella, Martha, Florence?

ShesBroodyandMoody · 08/08/2019 16:25

@nosauce, James is already the middle name, my dad is Arthur and I dont like any of the other names, for boys or girls, Sorry!

Thanks @Fuiseog, Its not like its Oliver and Olivia I guess! I think Elliot is very samey but #prayforgirl so we can stop at 2!

I meant James as a first name not James James!

Ah well good luck in choosing.

ShesBroodyandMoody · 08/08/2019 16:28

My partners good friend is a James so wouldnt want it as a first name, but thank you @nosauce .

I always think of Jude as a boys name. I've not heard it for a girl except as a nickname for Judy or Judith

diddlediddle · 08/08/2019 18:17

No they aren't samey, they work well together. Lois Jude is beautiful and would be a perfect tribute to your mum. It's a more well balanced name than Lois edie.

SmartPlay · 08/08/2019 19:10

I wouldn't pick Lois - sounds too much like Luis. I'd also find it weird for cousins to have such similar names.

Frith2013 · 08/08/2019 19:12

I like Lois Jude.

Sophronia · 08/08/2019 21:29

Lois Jude

ShesBroodyandMoody · 08/08/2019 21:48

The Louise is technically my cousin but is 12 year younger than me and at least 20 years older than my “Lois” x

I met a little girl called Elliot once and thought it was lovely for a girl

Tillygetsit · 08/08/2019 22:53

I love the names you have chosen and I dont think Oliver and Elliot or Oliver and Lois are too samey at all. They go very nicely in my opinion.
I can see why you want Jude but it's more of a boys name to me.
Why not have Elliot Jude and Lois Jamelia?

IckleBear · 10/08/2019 12:21

Lois Edie
