Meredith

I love the name Claudia. I have a a south-American friend and she pronounces it Cloud-ia and it's so dreamy to me

Astronica · 08/08/2019 08:46

I much prefer Claudia. The so-called meaning wouldn't worry me - language evolves over time and names do the same. Nobody in these times uses Claude/Claudia as a descriptor of a lame child. If it helps I would consider it meaning 'overcomes adversity' or 'strength in adversity'.

whatausername · 08/08/2019 10:27

Yes, absolutely Astronica, just change the meaning on a whim and render it...errrr...meaningless. Words have meanings because we all use similar or the same meaning, you numpty.

That said, OP, Claudia is lovely and not many know the meaning of it. Even if they do it is somewhat irrelevant bc soon when they hear the name they will think of your DD.

Frith2013 · 08/08/2019 10:28

Claudia. Because I don’t like the English pronunciation of Meredith.

AdelaideK · 08/08/2019 10:28

Claudia. I couldn't care less about the meaning, it's a lovely name.

Atlasta · 08/08/2019 10:33

Meredith

WouldHAVEcouldHAVEshouldHAVE · 08/08/2019 10:34

Claudia

Militantmartha · 08/08/2019 10:39

Claudia is much nicer

LazyLizzy · 08/08/2019 11:59

Meredith/Merry

hexagon01 · 08/08/2019 13:23

Meredith! It’s my daughter’s name. Her dad calls her Merry sometimes but I tend to full name her. I liked that if she wanted a more ‘trendy’ name as she gets older she could go by Edie. Not everyone likes it but it’s my perfect girls name. I do think Claudia is nice too though.

daisypond · 08/08/2019 14:12

Meredith is often pronounced differently/wrongly, and I suspect that the correct pronunciation isn’t as well known as the two Claudia pronunciations, and that would drive me bonkers as well.

LazyLizzy · 08/08/2019 15:17

How else can you pronounce Meredith, other than Meh reh dith?

Claudia can be Claw-dia or Cloud-ia.

daisypond · 08/08/2019 15:24

It’s where the stress goes- on the middle syllable, Merr-EDD-ith, a bit like that.

Fuiseog · 08/08/2019 16:05

Meredith ❤️

Pinkout · 08/08/2019 16:08

Claudia.

NoSauce · 08/08/2019 16:14

Claudia is lovely. I find Meredith a bit frumpy.

soundsystem · 08/08/2019 16:15

Claudia

Lilyrose90 · 08/08/2019 17:06

Meredith.
Claudia is too frumpy and posh but not in a nice way...in a posh horse-faced woman kind of way

RuthW · 08/08/2019 17:15

Claudia. I hate 'th' ending names.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 08/08/2019 18:29
