(Thread isn’t meant to offend anyone - MN hates my Dd and Ds names anyway!)

For me it would have to be Cordelia and Juniper.

Snobby fuckers. It's become a hate thread rather than your 'intended' one.

MangoSpice · 07/08/2019 19:15

Ivy to me sounds harsh and 'jaggy'. Also Ivy Tilsley.

firawla · 07/08/2019 19:18

I don’t like the ones with a harsh G - Margot, Greta, Gretal and so on.

ChelseaCat · 07/08/2019 19:22

@CookPassBabtridge - why snobby?!

Worlds0kayestmum · 07/08/2019 19:25

Noah. I just can't stand it

Hyphenated names
Old man names especially in cutesy form like Reggie, Albie etc

Boys names for girls. I like girls names with a masculine shortening like George fit Georgia, Frankie fir Francesca. But not girls called James.

Otillie
Arabella
Stanley
Theo

IdentifyasTired · 07/08/2019 19:28

They're hated on mn but I have a fondness for Jayden, Kaiden etc etc. They is a softness with the 'd' that I like.

NotSoFrankly · 07/08/2019 19:28

As a pp said, where are you encountering this ‘hype’ about Cordelia and Jupiter?

llangennith · 07/08/2019 19:37

I work in a school and only know one Cordelia (not at this school) so what's the hype?

Jojo0286 · 07/08/2019 19:39

I really don’t understand the purpose or benefit of this thread ... other than affending people.

Sleepthiefsmum18 · 07/08/2019 19:40

Arlo
Atticus
Jaxon (the x really offends me for some reason)

Lena
Lola
Holly

Herat1986 · 07/08/2019 19:42

I was absolutely convinced I'd see my kids names on here! Not so far...

However I can't understand why all the hate for Margot!! Love this so much I'm sad I never used it.

shoulderstoesandknees · 07/08/2019 19:44

I really liked the name Hayden for years, but didn't realise before MN that it was considered chavy. I have since met 3 young Jayden's, but only one teenage Hayden.

Isla, Lily & Evie is very popular around here for girls, but generally I'm only not meeting multiple of the most popular names like Olivia's, Amelia.

For boys very classic names here like William, Edward, Harry but again not many multiples of the same name. I'm sure once DS goes to school there will be some overlap. I'm yet to meet another boy with his name, but we will see.

For me I only really dislike nicknames as full names. I don't mind the nicknames themselves, but being Bobbie or Freddie on your birth certificate seems a bit casual. But then maybe I'm uptight ?

Ellmau · 07/08/2019 19:45

Elodie - I don't dislike it, it's quite pretty, but why have so many people picked it recently?

Fluffynoon · 07/08/2019 19:45

Isn't it great that we're not all the same.

Personally I find this quite a bitchy thread - 'What names don't you get the hype of?' = let's slag off some names we've heard. If you have to add the proviso of 'not trying to offend' then you really should just have a word with yourself.

There you go there's my two cents.

Fluffynoon · 07/08/2019 19:47

Sorry cross posted with you @Jojo0286 - agreed. I'm not sure what it achieves apart from ill feeling

Cbeebiesrehab · 07/08/2019 19:56

I think by now we all know what Baby Names on MN is all about. If you’re going to get offended then why would you open the thread? You know what it’s going to contain-lists of names strangers don’t like. My daughter’s name has been mentioned, I couldn’t give a shit. This forum isn’t for people who are offended by people’s opinions, even if they are bitchy at times.

BillyAndTheSillies · 07/08/2019 19:57

I don't understand the popularity of really popular names. Which obviously makes me strange because they're popular for a reason, right?

Olivia, Oliver and Oscar are the main ones I don't get.

I'm also not a fan of a fair few Old Testament names such as - Isiah, Noah etc. But fine with others like Joshua, Reuben for example.

HalfManHalfLabrador · 07/08/2019 19:58

Ottilie and Ezra

hexagon01 · 07/08/2019 20:02

I always think Leo is a name that people use when they can’t think of any other name (I know several lovely Leo’s with lovely parents, I don’t think it’s a bad name at all).

If it’s names I just don’t like, I can’t bear Arietty, Cressida, things like that.

And I say this as the mother of two children with very marmite names - my 8 week old’s name is often met with a polite ‘oh’. Smile

Theresomethingaboutdairy · 07/08/2019 20:06

Obviously not a popular opinion but I love Olivia, Isabella, Florence and Emily, I genuinely can't see how these names would be seen as offensive and totally get why they are popular. To me they sound pretty, intelligent, inoffensive names that will stand the test of time and suit any profession 🤷🏻‍♀️

IndianaMoleWoman · 07/08/2019 20:07

All the X names:
Dexter
Xavier
Lexie
Jaxon
And girls’ names that just seem to be feminised boys’ names:
Thomasina
Briany
Alana
Nigella

WitchesGlove · 07/08/2019 20:13

Emily
Jessica
Olivia

devilishlygood · 07/08/2019 20:14

Never really gone for George. It just kind of makes me think of flubbery and flaccid. No particular reason.
