Names you just don’t understand the hype for?

For me it would have to be Cordelia and Juniper.

I keep seeing Willow on MN. Just why?

It's awful, I agree, but worse still I saw I thread where everyone thought Willa was great. Willa, FFS!

etc the people who tend to use them seem to think they are super individual but actually always dress the same, work in creative industries, live in in East London or Margate etc

Names do kind of blow up though. I always wanted to use the name Ava as it was a relatives name & always loved it. Myleene Klass called her dc it & then the name was everywhere so I didn’t want to use it anymore.

My husband is Jack (in his 30s) named after his grandfather as he was born on his birthday. His grandfather's given name was also 'just' Jack, not John

I think willow and grace are risky names if you have larger genes in your family. There was a rather large dumpy girl at school named willow and it seemed quite a cruel name to give her.

I dislike most Gaelic names. They sound ugly to me.

For me it would be Brooke and Kai. I just don't like the sound of them.

And I'm still not convinced that Ottilie is a real name rather than some MN in joke

Albie. It's not a proper name and I've heard it so many times recently. Also, Delilah. There seems to be a craze for all baby girls born near me being called it and to me it sounds like a mouthful.

Emily. Dull, insipid and everywhere.

I hate Emily for some reason I always assume an Emily would be shy, dull and very boring the sort that lets people walk all over her.

I love Emily. It would quite possibly have been my dd's name had it not been so very popular.

I e read the whole thread... neither of my children's names, or my husbands are meantioned 😗. My name is only mentioned as a popular name of someone in their 40s! 😂

Wow! All three of my children's names have made an appearance and I love them all individually.

Even the most recent Ottilie - shock!

This is a really poor form thread, nothing to come out of it other than slagging off other people's choices.
