(Thread isn’t meant to offend anyone - MN hates my Dd and Ds names anyway!)

For me it would have to be Cordelia and Juniper.

I’m not a fan of the Aidan, caiden, Hayden, Jayden craze. I really dislike the girls name Nevaeh.

Luxesoap · 08/08/2019 17:29

I don’t get the love for Persephone. It’s such a mouthful and not keen on Percy, Sephy for short.

Everly just sounds too American cheerleadery.

Summer/autumn/winter - too clunky and don’t go with most surnames.

My very overused 60s name has had a few mentions along with 2 out of 3 DGC.

Skyejuly · 08/08/2019 17:52

Jessica

DejaVoodoo · 08/08/2019 19:58

Piper seems to get a lot of love on here.

It is fucking awful. A little girl playing massive bagpipes comes to mind.

Why is it even a name?

Lavenderblues · 08/08/2019 20:03

I agree - a piper plays some sort of pipe! Strange name for a girl Hmm

Verily1 · 08/08/2019 20:12

George
Archie
Oliver

Olivia
Evie
Isla

itsabootyhole · 08/08/2019 20:16

@flossiefloo for what it's worth I actually love savannah. There's a thread going at the minute on top 3 girls names and savannah made my list.

CatteStreet · 08/08/2019 20:35

The ones that really puzzle me are Evelyn and Ottilie. I also completely fail to see the appeal of Arlo and Xander, for example, but I can see why others like them. But Ottilie in particular is just such a strange name to be the subject of a fad in the UK of all places.

MikeUniformMike · 08/08/2019 20:44

I think that there are trends.
Ottilie is a bit like Tilly.
Tilly, Lily, Milly nn names. (Matilda, Romilly, Emilia...)
Lily - Lila, Lola, Luna

Evelyn - such a dreary name but fits in with the Eve, Evie, Eva, Ava, Ivy trend as does Avery.

Ellie trend - Ella, Bella, Elodie, Eloise (not Elouise please that's ugly), Helena

carmellax · 08/08/2019 20:53

I quite like Piper. Better then the usual Bella, Ella, Lola, Olivia, Isabelle, Layla names.

3boysandabump · 08/08/2019 21:02

3 of my 4 ds names are in here. 1 of them is on here many many times 😂

I hate car names Bentley, Mercedes etc

Double barrelled names especially when the second name is Mae.

Names of Alcohol eg Stella, Bailey etc I know they aren't just names of alcohol but the association would put me off

boredboredboredboredbored · 08/08/2019 21:09

I find these threads so mean. Call your kid what you like. You don't need a bunch of jumped up strangers exclaiming their disdain for it. Pathetic.

Bezalelle · 08/08/2019 21:10

Noah.

Such a weak, windy name!

laylabella · 08/08/2019 21:14

My DD name has been mentioned and it's not a popular name at all it's out of the top 500. It is what some people would consider "chavy" though but she likes it! Agree with PP some people are missing the point of the thread Hmm

CocoBlair · 08/08/2019 21:15

I like Savannah and Scarlett!

NoSauce · 08/08/2019 21:17

Noah.

Such a weak, windy name!

Agree with the weak bit but windy?! What’s that mean? Grin

Luke is another weak name.

CherryBlu · 08/08/2019 21:30

Iv got a Jaxon his known as Jax 😎 really suits him and his a little dude 🖤

LatteLove · 08/08/2019 21:34

I really like Noah

CatteStreet · 08/08/2019 21:40

Oh yes, Romilly, that's also very much on my 'don't get it' list.

And I don't understand the 'masculine sounding surnames for girls' trend.

Noah and Luke 'weak'? Confused

DejaVoodoo · 08/08/2019 21:41

Elodie is another I don't get but is much loved here. It just sounds awful, and it also reminds me of elodea, which is pond weed.

Herat1986 · 08/08/2019 21:43

Whoop there it is - son's name just got a mention! Very far down though, I'm surprised! I love loads of the names being slated 😂
Daughters name not mentioned yet but her middle name is being mentioned a lot!! Not a surprise at all but it is after an adored late family member so we used it anyway 💕

flingingmelon · 08/08/2019 21:48

I came on here to see how many people slagged off Balonz, but almost no one.

Only been off the site a few months, it were all fields etc etc

DS's name hasn't made it on here though Grin

missmouse101 · 08/08/2019 21:50

Rory. Fgs, that ROAR sound is so horrible!

NoSauce · 08/08/2019 21:51

Balonz?

Do people still actually think it’s funny?

ShakespearesSisters · 08/08/2019 21:53

I have 2 names on here (inspiration for my user name) but I've only met 1 other cordelia and heard of 2 ophelia's (a name I loved since doing Hamlet at school almost 30 years ago). If they are so hyped I might be able to buy things in gift shops with their names on.
Round here the most popular names seem to be molly/mollie, phoebe, poppy, ava and florence. I have so many friends with kids that have these names we have to use surnames too when talking about them. But I think they are cute names.
I've yet to meet a juniper though.
