Just discovered this name / stole it from another thread. I love the sound of it and the meaning which is "she-wolf" - I think it's a great meaning! What do you think - too 'out there'?

No awful

OnoAnotherNC · 03/08/2019 16:23

I'm not even sure how to pronounce that...

OnoAnotherNC · 03/08/2019 16:23

Like ILVA?

Gigiandme · 03/08/2019 16:25

Yeah! Like ill-va or eel-vuh. It's an old Swedish name which is good as I have Swedish family so nice nod to that!

Galadali · 03/08/2019 16:25

I know an Ilva - she's Swedish. I like it.

Gigiandme · 03/08/2019 16:26

Me too! Just think it has a nice sound and a cool meaning!

OP posts:
Frith2013 · 03/08/2019 16:31

I like it.

LazyLizzy · 03/08/2019 16:33

Reminds me of vulva.

Gigiandme · 03/08/2019 16:46

😂😂 that made me laugh out loud

OP posts:
Wormentrude · 03/08/2019 16:46

I think it's lovely!

blueshoes · 03/08/2019 16:51

Yes, Vulva

user1486131602 · 03/08/2019 16:56

Not for me sorry, it’s too close to vulva, your poor daughter will be hounded at school with a name like that!

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 03/08/2019 17:00

My first thought was vulva too

Gregoire · 03/08/2019 17:01

I normally don't like very unusual names, but I like Ylva! And since you have a connection to Sweden you won't fall foul of using a name from a culture you don't belong to, which I always find weird.

MrsDimmond · 03/08/2019 17:02

Sorry looks anatomical to me too vulva / uvula

Gregoire · 03/08/2019 17:03

I also very much doubt she would be 'hounded' by the nickname vulva. They don't sound that alike imo (no more so than Ava / Alva which are popular names).

onalongsabbatical · 03/08/2019 17:15

I think it's lovely OP.

Colourfulest · 03/08/2019 18:56

I was also gonna say it sounds like vulva also.

RoseMartha · 03/08/2019 19:02

No as vulva was first thing I thought of too when read it

user1493494961 · 03/08/2019 19:02

Dreadful.

Abstractedobstructed · 03/08/2019 19:04

Yes, visually it looks like vulva. So it's a no from me.

Angrybottlethrower · 03/08/2019 19:21

Reminds me of elver. Grim.

JustMe9 · 03/08/2019 19:25

If you live in sweden then maybe yes you can call your daughter this name. But in the UK it will just be vulva. Sorry!

pooopypants · 03/08/2019 19:34

Vulva

Evil

It's a no from me, and I'm all for unique or unusual names

Josiefuzz · 03/08/2019 19:44

I like it and I love the meaning and how it sounds. Just not sure on the spelling and problems in pronunciation. We have a hard to say/spell surname which is tricky but not sure if it would be worse for a given name x
