Would you give your baby, your neighbour's name?

I'm not sure if I'm being silly but one of the names I really like is my neighbour's name. I get on with them, but we're not best friends or anything. Would this be awkward or am I over thinking it?

It wouldn’t bother me. At some point you’ll move or they will. Or they’ll die.

I think it's fine. One of you will move one day but you'll use your baby's name forever. Is it an unusual name or fairly common?

Neighboursandnames · 02/08/2019 10:12

It's in the top 100 of the baby name popularity list.

Unless it’s insanely out there (so top 100 = fine), I wouldn’t bat an eye lid

Angrybottlethrower · 03/08/2019 19:29

My baby has the name of a neighbour. Not a big deal- they’re only your neighbour

Josiefuzz · 03/08/2019 19:47

Yeah it's fine, if ur worried pre warn them so convo is done

SummerHouse · 03/08/2019 19:50

Just make it really weird and go round and announce it saying you are naming the baby after them and you hope they are honoured.

Wish we had done this with tall Paul at number 67.

No IRS fine

SummerHouse · 03/08/2019 20:04

It's definitely fine though. Go for it.

littlemeitslyn · 04/08/2019 15:07

I think they will be flattered!

Would you give your baby your neighbour's name?

My neighbour is 80-something yrs old and called 'Cornelius', so probably not... Grin

In your case, though, definitely go for it.

Just try not to shout "For crying out loud, (name), stop DOING that..."

too often, when yours is older...might lead to all manner of confusion for neighbour!
