I like Amber and Beatrix best, then Juniper.

IggyAce · 02/08/2019 08:12

Alba no reminds me of electrical goods.
Orla: like
Beatrix: like
Fiadh: no idea how to pronounce and the spelling makes it look ugly.
Saoirse: I like this but unless you live in Ireland I’d avoid because of pronunciation problems and been asked how is that spelt or spelt wrong.
Amber: ok
Juniper: like

I’d pick Beatrix, Orla or Juniper.

chickenoodlesoup · 02/08/2019 08:59

I only like Amber (name of my DD), I may be biased but I think it’s gorgeous. If I had to pick a 2nd place I’d go for Beatrix.

Sexnotgender · 02/08/2019 09:01

Love Juniper, don’t like any of the others.

CakeRattleandRoll · 02/08/2019 09:07

I love Saoirse, and like Juniper a lot, too.

Astronica · 02/08/2019 11:10

I like Beatrix, Fiadh, Saoirse and Juniper. While I don't mind the others I think these are the best.

CatteStreet · 02/08/2019 11:12

'and the spelling makes it look ugly'

FFS!

Orla and Fiadh are my favourites, OP. I much prefer Beatrice to Beatrix. Juniper is OK but feels a tiny bit faddy/of-the-moment. Saoirse is nice. Not keen on Alba or Amber.

Mimca · 02/08/2019 11:55

Love Orla, Beatrix, Saoirse.

Least keen on Amber (sorry pp!).

Frith2013 · 02/08/2019 12:08

Alba - Scottish for Scotland. Not sure if it would be a strange name if you live in Scotland.
Orla - ok
Beatrix - ok

Fiadh
Saoirse

Frith2013 · 02/08/2019 12:08

Spell check wouldn’t let me comment on the bottom 2. Saoirse is nice. Haven’t heard the other one.

daisypond · 02/08/2019 12:32

They’re all fine, though I prefer Beatrice to Beatrix. Some people will struggle with the Irish ones but I’ve no Irish links and know how to pronounce them. Juniper is technically a male name, after the saint, but I do like it. I like Amber too.

Creatureofthenight · 02/08/2019 12:39

Orla and Saoirse are my faves. Don’t like Juniper at all.

Cathyheathcliff · 02/08/2019 12:45

Orla and Saoirse are my favourites. I do quite like Juniper and it's quite quirky and cool

Pixilicious · 02/08/2019 12:48

Orla or Saoirse are lovely

Bentley111 · 02/08/2019 14:10

Alba - love
Orla - love
Beatrix - not to my taste
Fiadh - no idea how to pronounce
Saoirse - yes, love
Amber - prefer others
Juniper - my favourite from this list

Pemba · 02/08/2019 18:37

Saoirse - beautiful.

user1493494961 · 02/08/2019 19:01

Not keen on any of them.

FeegleFion · 02/08/2019 19:04

They’re all beautiful but I love Saoirse and Juniper... in fact I adore Juniper!

Custardandnoodle · 02/08/2019 19:13

I'd probably go for Orla, what about
Eilidh or Aiofe if you want something galic? Both are actually more common than I'd expect round our way Northern England)? I'm not keen on Juniper, not sure why. Maybe because it's the main ingredient in gin favouring and gin is all a bit hipster and faddy at the moment. But really, go with the name you love not randoms on internet forums 😊

soundsystem · 02/08/2019 19:22

I love, love, love Fiadh. Unfortunately in the local accent where I am it would be assumed we were mispronouncing Thea, so we had to rule it out. Love Saoirse as well, and Orla but prefer the Orlaith spelling.

The only one I'm not really keen on is Alba as it's more of a place name than a person name (if that makes sense!)

MeMeMeYou · 02/08/2019 19:23

I don’t like Juniper. Alba makes me think of the brand of stereo everyone had in the 90s. There are lots of ambers about. I like all of the other names and Saoirse sounds particularly lovely, although if not in Ireland could be tricky for others to spell.

How do you pronounce Fiadh?

Icklepup · 03/08/2019 16:51

I love Juniper!
