Boys name to go with Elise

Pillowcase99 · 31/07/2019 04:49

Due to have baby #2 in October and can't come up with anything i love.

Our daughter is Elise. Our surname starts with R, so prefer not to have first name initial R.

We like traditional or old fashioned names, currently luke-warm with:

Otis
Hugo
Edwyn
Francis
Edgar (my favourite but dh doesnt like it)
William

Thoughts? Any names to add? Please help I'm so sick of looking at baby name lists online..

TIA

I don’t think there’s a particular style that goes with Elise tbh. Elise doesn’t jump out as granny chic or classic or modern etc, so just go with a name you like.

I always think you can’t go wrong with James, Henry or Oliver. But if you want old fashioned as in what’s trendy now and not dated you could choose Stanley, Wilfred, Albert etc.

aww Elise is so pretty - its got a definitely European feel to it. I agree with those suggesting Hugo, I think Theo is great too. What about Alain or Thierry.

Plsnomorepeppapig · 31/07/2019 14:46

Our first daughter is an a Ellise too (2 l’s though 😆). We don’t normally come across many so it’s nice to see other girls with the same same. We went with Ellise as we knew a french girl years ago with the same name and it was so pretty and not common at all. When we were expecting again, I wanted to stick with a French name again - preferably only 2 syllables and a vowel but I’m just weird like that. I loved Albert , Eren and Ettiene (3 syllables though so that was ruled out 🤣). We ended up with another girl who we called Amber though, so my boys list never got very far.

Plsnomorepeppapig · 31/07/2019 14:49

Ooh Eden and Abel were on my short list too

Talcott2007 · 31/07/2019 14:59

Out of interest how are you pronouncing Elise - (European way - rhymes with 'please' or American/Australian way - rhymes with 'peace')

Please and Peace have the same ea sound when I say them...Confused

I'd say Eh-lease.

lozengeoflove · 31/07/2019 15:40

Glad you posted sunshines, for a minute there I thought I’d been saying ‘please’ and ‘peace’ all wrong Confused

My suggestion is Oscar.

Plsnomorepeppapig · 31/07/2019 16:43

We pronounce it like peace. So emphasis on the ssss. It’s easier to say than zzzz - for us anyway. The French girl we knew was pronounced sssss too.

Along with the seemingly popular hugo!

I don't know if it's hormones but my mind changes every day.. gahhhh!
