I've come across this name which is practically non existent!

Remony.

I don't know its meaning or origin but I really love it. In my head it sounds like a variation of Remona? Anyways, what do people think?

Thanks :)

MooFeatures · 29/07/2019 11:03

Sounds too similar to ‘remoaner’, sorry

CodenameVillanelle · 29/07/2019 11:04

Lol it's terrible

flumpybear · 29/07/2019 11:07

I like the name Remi so would work with that longer name (hate short names / nickname type names)
Not sure I'd chose it myself but it's different, but not silly different iuswim

escapade1234 · 29/07/2019 11:07

Sorry, it puts me in mind of the people who voted Remain and cannot stop “remoaning” about the outcome.

Apologies for offending 95% of Mumsnet Wink

flumpybear · 29/07/2019 11:08

I take it it's pronounced Re-mon-eee?

missdumbledore · 29/07/2019 11:10

I pronounce it Re-mon-ee, yes, like Remedy Smile

anothernotherone · 29/07/2019 11:14

Isn't it a place in Scotland?

Bezalelle · 29/07/2019 11:17

Sounds like one of those very time-specific names, like when people were named after generals from the Boer War, or "Victoria" after the Corononation of Queen V.

Remony - named because her parents were Remainers in the Great Brexit Debacle.

missdumbledore · 29/07/2019 11:18
Shock Shock horror! No, I wouldn't pronounce it Re-moan-ee like Remona, I just meant it could derive from it somehow. Do you think the same thing if it's pronounced Re-mon-eee?

People may mishear it as Rimini, the Italian resort. Not to my taste, sorry.

Butterfly005 · 29/07/2019 11:21

I quite like it

Caramellow · 29/07/2019 11:23

It makes me think of Renesmee from Twilight. I'm not a fan.

BogglesGoggles · 29/07/2019 11:23

I think I may be slightly dyslexic. I had to reread that three times, I got money and remedy before I got it right - might just be all the spaces though. Are you having a girl or a boy?

lazymare · 29/07/2019 11:23

Lemony

No - sorry

missdumbledore · 29/07/2019 11:28

Thanks for all the opinions anyway haha
In my head it's a really pretty name :)

Ps. not a remain supporter lol

For a little girl :)

Jemima232 · 29/07/2019 11:33

I quite like it but I doubt if people will be able to pronounce it or spell it, OP.

Antonin · 29/07/2019 12:32

Isn’t it Ramona rather than Remona?
How about Romilly
Or Romy ?

Frith2013 · 29/07/2019 13:51

Sounds like someone has started complaining again.

Re-moany.

Clownfish123 · 29/07/2019 16:15

I know someone with a Remini, pronounced the same I think? Rhymes with Remedy. I think it's lovely, can shorten to Remy.

Bouncingbelle · 29/07/2019 16:41

I quite like it but if some one named their child this right now, i would think they were Remainers & making a point!

Cinammoncake · 29/07/2019 17:20

Remony snickett

It's a no from me

missdumbledore · 29/07/2019 18:05

Aww yes that's also lovely:)

YukoandHiro · 29/07/2019 18:07

I like it. I knew a Remony through work a few years ago and thought it really unusual and lovely

YukoandHiro · 29/07/2019 18:09

But the PPs have a point. Bloody Brexit is ruining everything
