Help me be open minded (bf choices) boys names

Names below are ones my bf and I like, opinions/order of preference gratefully appreciated.

My bfs other choices are below. I want to to be open minded. I don't want to simply shut down his ideas. What do you think of his choices? Thank you x

• Elijah (Eli for short, my bf loves the name)
• Elias (same as above, Eli for short)
• Leo (Leonard or Leonardo)
• Ellis
• Theo

My bf likes;

• Cole
• Carter
• Arlo
• Dylan
• Marley (that's a dogs name )
• Rhys
• Lucas

-Luca

I like Elijah and Ellis from the top list and Luca from the bottom list.

Nothing wrong with the other names, just not to my taste.
(with the exception of Marley, which does remind me of the film)

Love Elijah!

I like Elijah, Elias and Theo, Leo is also OK. Not keen on bf choices, I suppose Luca is OK.

I like Leo but would have it 'stand alone'
Is OH a musician? If he is attached to Arlo / Carter / Dylan for that reason I could possibly get on board
I'm confused by Luca and the welsh names.
What are is thoughts?

Arlo is #2 on my list, love it!

Eli is a really lovely name, whichever elongated way you do it x

Elijah - we considered this. I love Eli but slightly prefer Elias as the full name. Elijah is gorgeous too though

• Leo (Leonard or Leonardo) - I like Leo but it's very popular. Much prefer Leonard to Leonardo but would personally worry he'd become Lennie which I don't like

• Ellis - nice enough just not my style

• Theo - find it a bit meh

• Cole - I really like this as a nn for Nicholas
• Carter - strongly dislike
• Arlo - it's OK, quite faddy
• Dylan - I like it but spelt Dillon
• Marley (that's a dogs name confused) - I'd think it was a girl if I saw it written down
• Rhys - I like it, this spelling only
• Lucas - I like it

I love Leonardo / Leo. Elijah is nice too. Not keen on any of the others - particularly dislike Rhys and Ellis.

Why confused by the Welsh names?

• Elijah - lovely! I think Elijah is a lovely sound. It's masculine, but soft. Eli is a lovely shortening for it.
• Elias - can't stand it. I feel the same way about Elliot/Elliott. They make my teeth itch and I find them a wet, unpleasant sound for some reason. That said, I know some and don't bat an eyelid when I hear the name on an actual human. But the names themselves... Ugh no.
• Leo (Leonard or Leonardo) - I love Leo on its own, but it is popular as a pp says. Leonard isn't my cup of tea. Leonardo would sound utterly ghastly in the English accents where I live, so that would put me off. Otherwise, I like it.
• Ellis - see Elias.
• Theo - overused and not all that nice as a sound imo. A bit lisping.

My bf likes;

• Cole - makes me think of coal and is also a bit American (I am American born, so I am allowed to say that )
• Carter - like Cole, a bit American. Makes me think of Lois's dad in family guy.
• Arlo - love it! Love it especially for the connection to Guthrie. It is a bit faddy, but it doesn't put me off the name. I know one (not mine) and he is amazing.
• Dylan - despite adoring Bob Dylan, I do not like this name. It's ok though.
• Marley - it's ok. Is this another music reference? Again, I love the reference, but not so much the name. Personally, I'd go with Robert and calm him Bobby as a little boy, which would probably become Bob as an adult.
• Rhys - I don't like it very much in an English accent. All of these accent comments obviously depend where you live!
• Lucas - nice name. Quite different to his other choices though and less memorable maybe... Whether you think that is a good or a bad thing though is down to you.

-Lux - de luxe. Also sounds a bit like lush, which I don't like. -Luca - really like it.

I'm being quite picky here though and they're all perfectly ok names. What do you think and what are your favourites op?

I’m not a fan of Cole or Carter, but really like the rest of your list.
Elias is much nicer than Elijah imo.
I love Luca but prefer the Lucca spelling.
Also love Arlo. I’m not convinced it’s faddy, I only know one and he’s 16.

Elias or Elijah would be my choices. I don't really like any from your boyfriend's list.

Leo or Theo are the only ones I like really.

Didn't think the name choices would be so emotive but really helpful stuff.

I still like Elias (Eli) as my fav and also Ellis.
I think I need more time to warm to my partners choices.

I like all except Ellis from the top list and Rhys and Lucas from the bottom list.

I have an elijah who I assumed would be an Eli ..... except he won’t have it and is always always Elijah lol

For a while when he was little I did have name regret and wish I’d chosen Elias

I still love them both :)

I know an Ellis and think it’s the cutest boys name!
I really like Elliot and you could use the nickname Eli for him too! Really like Freddie, Finn and Cooper too :)

• Marley - Bob or the dog? The only human I've heard of with his name was a female in Glee. Some people avoid unisex names.

I like Elias from list 1 and Lucas from list 2 the best. Had list 2 considered Robert/Bobby to go with the Dylan and Marley theme?
