What are your thoughts on Rosalind? Do you know any?

Think I'd prefer Rosaleen/Rosanna. Just maybe softer.

NannyR · 22/07/2019 20:48

One of my all time favourite names! It sounds pretty and feminine but strong at the same time. It's timeless and classic, suits all ages.

Atlasta · 22/07/2019 20:52

Ok but personally find the lind a bit harsh.
I like Rosa and I like Rosalie.

CatSmize · 23/07/2019 00:09

It's my name and I've always hated it Blush It's far too classic and old-fashioned for my liking.

YourWinter · 23/07/2019 00:14

I love it!

NoSquirrels · 23/07/2019 00:16

Love it.

Yes, know a perfectly lovely early 20s Rosalind. Plenty of shortenings if you want, but very classic if later they need or want to use their full name.

Like I say, love it.

IamAporcupine · 23/07/2019 00:18

Reminds me of Rosalind Franklin, so yes from me Grin

HeadintheiClouds · 23/07/2019 00:18

It is old fashioned but classic none the less.

bridgetreilly · 23/07/2019 00:31

It's lovely. The 'lind' isn't harsh at all, since the emphasis is all at the start of the name. I much prefer it to both Rosa and Rosalie.

Ellmau · 23/07/2019 07:50

I think it's a great name - strong and beautiful rather than pretty/girly.

FromthePinkGlitterySide · 23/07/2019 08:00

I think you have to be aware that everyone will call her Roz. It’s a bit dated imho.

TheWashingMachine · 23/07/2019 08:04

We were certain we were going to call our DD Rosalind then when she was born we decided she didn't look like a Rosalind but I still love the name.

Colourfulest · 23/07/2019 09:48

Sounds like someone with a cold trying to say Rosaline. Like in the friends episode when Monica has a cold and says "I'm find" instead of "I'm fine"

MikeUniformMike · 23/07/2019 11:36

It's beautiful.
I think I would use it as a mn because it might be misspelt as Rosaline or Rosalyn, neither of which I'm mad about.

BuffaloCauliflower · 23/07/2019 12:17

It’s lovely. Classic but still unusual. I prefer a Rosie shortening to a Ros/Roz though, and a shortening is inevitable

MikeUniformMike · 23/07/2019 13:09

I used to work with a Rose. Her full name was Rosalind. I like Ros too, probably prefer it as a nn. I like Rosie but as a name not nn.

daisypond · 23/07/2019 13:32

Lovely. Classic and feminine without being frilly and girly.

AnneKipanki · 23/07/2019 13:44

My aunt is Rosalind.
Character in "As You Like It "
I do like the name.
I have come across another 2 in my 33 years of working.

MikeUniformMike · 23/07/2019 15:57

You can't go wrong with many of the Shkespearean names. I'd avoid Goneril, Clytemnestra and Titania though.

Thrupennybrit · 23/07/2019 16:00

Lovely. Can't think of a negative.

AnneKipanki · 23/07/2019 16:09

[grin[ @MikeUniformMike

MotherOfSoupDragons · 23/07/2019 16:10

Love it.

CremeEggThief · 23/07/2019 16:12

I know a Rosalyn and 2 Rosalinds, all aged 38-41.

MikeUniformMike · 23/07/2019 16:14

Shakespeare's men's names are generally dodgy though.

AnneKipanki · 23/07/2019 16:21

argh ! Grin
