Thoughts - for my friend.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

A bit bland, I assume Alexander on the birth certificate (at least he would have other options).

SoftBlocks · 22/07/2019 17:36

I think Sandy is traditionally short for Alexander esp in Scotland so why not Alexander on the birth certificate and Sandy for his nickname?

Kam610 · 22/07/2019 17:45

Where I live in Scotland, Sandy's are short for Alexander. I personally love it and Alexander is actually our top baby boy name if we have a boy 😊

Mammalian · 22/07/2019 17:46

I would immediately think it's a girls name...

DontCallMeShitley · 22/07/2019 18:04

Agree, short for Alexander, I believe mainly in Scotland judging by the ones I have met.

Alex is the other short version.

Sandy used as a name rather than a shortening of a name would be a girl, maybe Alexandra or Sandra.

MyNewBearTotoro · 22/07/2019 18:08

I went to uni with a name Sandy, full name Alexander.

mushroomwall · 22/07/2019 18:48

I work with a male Sandy, he's the loveliest guy. The name makes him stand out too, in a good way

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/07/2019 18:57

Its fine as long as the surname isn't Beach WinkGrin. Will he be Alexander known as Sandy

Sexnotgender · 22/07/2019 18:58

Great name. I’d go with Alexander on the BC though.

MrsDimmond · 22/07/2019 19:00

Fine in Scotland but he might appreciate Alexander on his birth certificate

managedmis · 22/07/2019 19:01

Meh

LoafofSellotape · 22/07/2019 19:02

Lovely 😊

isabellerossignol · 22/07/2019 19:03

I love it. It's an old man name to me, but in a good way.

wibs77 · 22/07/2019 19:26

Love this name

cushioncovers · 22/07/2019 19:31

It's bland and beige. Imo reminds me of the comedy film identity thief the main character was Sandy Patterson Grin

feelingsicknow · 22/07/2019 19:32

I think it's lovely. Makes me think of Sandy Lyle. Maybe he'll like golf? 😊

Sophronia · 22/07/2019 20:20

Love it short for Alexander. It was on our shortlist for DS.

alidew · 22/07/2019 20:29

My youngest is Sandy - Alexander on birth cert. We are Scottish and he was born in Scotland but now live in the SE. Only had a "girls' name" comment once ever in his 8 years as most people have heard of it as a pet name for Alexander. MIL didn't like it as it reminded her of someone horrible at her gold club - not Sandy Lyle though Smile

Bristolgal · 23/07/2019 04:35

I like it, especially if it's short for Alexander which is gorgeous.

Lavenderblues · 23/07/2019 06:58

Girls name. Short for Sandra!

pancaketits · 23/07/2019 09:21

Sits and thinks dreamily of Sandy Cohen in The OC.

BabloHoney · 23/07/2019 13:47

I know one short for Lysander! Very Shakespearean..

Pinktinker · 23/07/2019 13:53

Horrid. My Mum’s childhood dog was Sandy, it was a girl.
