What are your thoughts on Rebecca. I see it as a beautiful classic that is currently underused

Great name. As you say, a classic. But can also be shortened if your dd chooses when she's older

Just seen other thread. Sorry

It's lovely. Really like the spelling Rebekah too.

viques · 15/07/2019 20:32

I love it, though recipient wasn't too thrilled when she found a book that gave the meaning as heifer! Although it looks simple enough be prepared for many mis spellings, extra double letters, no double c, an extra R, the odd H , even had an ER once. It just seems to be one of those names people get wrong when they write it.

NeverTrustASmilingCat · 15/07/2019 20:41

Well, I'm a fan, and we used it for one of our 5 year old DTDs. I don't know any others of a similar age.

whiteroseredrose · 15/07/2019 20:45

I love it. It is my DD's middle name!

Sunshineonleith12 · 15/07/2019 20:50

Love it. Lovely for a baby, child, teenager, adult and into old age. Gives the child some freedom if they choose a variation as they get older. I'm biased though!

small2018 · 15/07/2019 20:57

I love it but dislike the nickname Becky!

I would shorten to Reb!

gettingtherequickly · 15/07/2019 21:04

Lovely timeless name

IggyAce · 15/07/2019 21:10

I’m a Rebecca, I was the only one at primary and in secondary there was one other. I agree it’s an underused classic. I’ve never been know as Becky, my DM hated it and it was never used I was always called Rebecca. My best friends call me Bec or Becca.

Sophronia · 15/07/2019 21:11

Rebecca is lovely

Totaldogsbody · 15/07/2019 21:16

Yeah called my daughter Rebecca 26 years ago, she gets all the usual shortened versions , Becca, Becky, Rebs. I normally call her by the full version though.

EyeDrops · 15/07/2019 23:24

I love it, but don't like any of the shortened versions. Rebecca is just such a beautiful name - I would have loved it for DDs name but knew it would be shortened, so decided against. (Nothing against the nicknames at all, they just wouldn't be what I'd have chosen and so I didn't want that!)

username1724 · 15/07/2019 23:42

Love it, my sister is Rebecca shortened to Becca. You dont hear it very often but it's still well known. I was always jealous of her name!

Snoopy90 · 15/07/2019 23:46

I really like it. I think the names that were popular in 80s/90s are due a comeback. Rebecca, Natalie, Stephanie etc are lovely. Shame they are so underused now.

HellYeah90s · 16/07/2019 02:44

I went to school with one who was called Reb at school in the 90s.

I can't say I am wild about the name, but its definitely one of names from the 80s/90s that has dated much better than others.

Topseyt · 16/07/2019 02:49

I love it, in all of its long and short forms.

I have a Rebecca.

chiccocico · 16/07/2019 02:50

Love Rebecca and would have considered it for my baby if it wasn't for the fact that I hate Becky.

OooErMissus · 16/07/2019 02:50

I've always really liked it. Classic, elegant, substantial and under-used.

She'll be the only one in the school.

Joeybee · 16/07/2019 04:17

Lovely name, probably unpopular at the moment as it was popular in the 80's and 90's, so hasn't made a comeback yet. There's nothing wrong with using it though, it's a lovely traditional name with a great history

SquirellTamer · 16/07/2019 04:20

I have a Rebekah.

isitwhatitis · 16/07/2019 04:26

Love it.

Owlbert · 16/07/2019 21:31

Always disliked it but I think that is because I hate Bex/Becks/Becca and Becky shirtenings. Also to me it's a very 80s choice as there were multiple in each of my classes throughout school.

IdblowJonSnow · 16/07/2019 21:36

I love it too. It's my middle name and so much better than my first name.
