Emily or Charlotte

Asking for my sister who has just given birth to her third dd, she can’t choose between Emily or Charlotte - her husband likes Emily she doesn’t love it but it goes nicely with her other dds names and she loves Charlotte but it doesn’t flow as well with their surname. Their dds are Amy and Caitlyn (katy) tia

What about Lottie? Sounds similar to Emily and incorporates a bit of Charlotte.

Nautiloid · 13/07/2019 14:03

No help from me, I love them both. But if she doesn't like a name she can veto!

Aardvarkitsabloodyaardvark · 13/07/2019 14:04

I have a soft spot for Emily. It was my Grandmother's middle name and so is my daughters middle name too.

Qwerty09876 · 13/07/2019 14:12

Emily sounds good with the other to names, as I can see in post your sis shortened Caitlin (Katy) and I think Lottie goes really well with the other too names Smile

Prefer Amelie or Elodie to Emily
She could have the nn Lottie if she went with Charlotte

DramaAlpaca · 13/07/2019 14:55

Both lovely. I'd struggle to choose too

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 13/07/2019 15:56

I was going to say Emily as I can't ife the name Charlotte. It irritates me, but Emily is too much like Amy, so I'd say Charlotte

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 13/07/2019 15:59

Charlotte if push came to shove.
For some reason I really don't like Emily, bit wishy washy.

Lindellia · 13/07/2019 16:37

I wouldn't use Emily if she's already got an Amy. Don't think Amelie is any better on that front, but Elodie could work.

If Charlotte doesn't flow well, she could still use it as a middle name.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 13/07/2019 16:40

ife should say Abide.

Shadow1234 · 14/07/2019 02:04

Didn't read the thread properly (missed the Amy sibling), so yes Amelie would definitely not be a good alternative (as quite rightly pointed out by 'Lindellia')

DickZillaofTheVilla · 14/07/2019 02:18

Emily

SemperIdem · 14/07/2019 02:24

has she considered Bronte?

In all seriousness, I prefer Emily. I cannot abide “Charl” as a lazy shortening for Charlotte.

SemperIdem · 14/07/2019 02:26

Blush missed that there’s an older sister called Amy. I think it would have to be Charlotte. Amy and Emily are too close.

But still...Bronte

Quintella · 14/07/2019 02:30

Charlotte.

Amy and Emily just doesn't work.

WitchesGlove · 14/07/2019 16:14

Don’t like either that much if I’m honest, they’re a bit boring. If I had to choose, I’d pick Charlotte, every Emily I’ve ever met has been an absolute bitch.

How about:

Sara
Molly
Clara
Nina
Julia
Ellen
Helena
Imogen

Glad to hear she's scrapped both names - one she doesn't love and the other doesn't go with the surname, so she can't use either.
