Brother for Martha and Nancy

I have two DDs, Martha and Nancy, and am expecting a boy! I have never been able to find a boys name I'm totally happy with during my last two pregnancies and still don't seem to be able to. I obviously like fairly old fashioned names, but don't really like names which are shortened to nicknames. This seems to make it really difficult! Any ideas?!

Has someone seriously suggested Arthur as a brother for Martha?! Please don’t use that combination.

If you want a name that can’t be shortened, you’ll probably have to go fairly short in terms of boys’ names:

John
Jack
Luke
Adam

I've got a Nancy but my husband has vetoed Rafe. I like William but Bill and Nancy didn't exactly end well in Oliver...

People will shorten any name my DH has a shirt name and he then gets called B his initial. It's funny isn't it?

Do you mean that you don't like names which get shortened or that you don't like shortenings as full names? Like Alfie, Charlie etc?

James

Wilfred (suggested above and I love it)

There are loads of options, but if you don't like nns you're limiting your self. Plus you can't control nns forever. Martha Nancy and.
Leo. Harry. John. Ivan. Jack. Eric.
Saying that most names can be shortened or lengthened. Eg John Johnny. Leo Lee.

There are lots of beautiful traditional boys names which would work with your dd's but I agree with pp's you can't control nicknames. I have 4 boys, 2 were given full names with the intention of shortening them but have remained known as their full names. 1 was given a full name but is known as another version of the same name and I wish I had just named him that to begin!
