Which names do people think will start to become popular over the next few years?

Which names have you started to hear more of recently that you think will increase in popularity?

Luna

AriadneesWeb · 09/07/2019 09:41

Lots of WW1 names recently. One of our neighbours has a Wilfred.

sheshootssheimplores · 09/07/2019 09:42

I know lots of Reubens, so that definitely popular already.

Lilyannarose · 09/07/2019 10:33

Ophelia and Elodie.

papimia · 09/07/2019 10:35

Yes to Elodie

Judging my MN Aubrey is v popular too

Watersnail · 09/07/2019 11:05

I think plainer names will sound refreshing before too long. We've had frilly, we've had "old man/lady" names. Some the not yet cool retro names will soon be used as tributes to those who will become grandparents or great grandparents.

John
Michael
Andrew
Richard
Brian

Susan
Karen
Helen
Anne
Joanna

I think environmental names will expand too, so that more words are used as names.

Zen
Polaris
Eagle
Dune
Fractal
Perseus
Damson
Moss
Basil

Gaia
Electra
Cherry
Alcyone
Teal
Emerald
Cressida
Bellatrix
... and Aurora as mentioned above

PetraRabbit · 09/07/2019 11:07

Almost every newborn baby boy I've come across recently has been Teddy. That's where the popularity of Theodore is coming from- people looking for a longer version. Like mega-popular names Lily/Lilly/Lily-Grace or Sophia/Sofia or Isabelle/Isabella/Bella/Isobel etc or all the varieties of Mohammed , the true popularity of Teddy won't be reflected in the name charts bit I think it's jumped in a couple of years from below 1000th place to the 20s....the ultimate sign of the new Noah- coming from absolutely nowhere are exploding! Aurora is similar for girls but on a much smaller scale. I also see a lot of: Ezra, Clara, Luna, Zach, Rueben.

H3ll0myNam3is · 09/07/2019 13:10

I think Freya has become really popular recentely

tdam · 09/07/2019 13:19

Emmeline, June, Matilda, Thea, Margot, Freya, Clara, and Olive are the big ones for me. Hearing/seeing them a lot. Which kills me especially in regards to Matilda, Freya, Margot and Olive as I'd consider all four if I have another daughter.

For boys, Otis, Jude, Milo, Theodore, Hugo and Oscar. Which sucks because I'd definitely consider Jude, Milo and Hugo in particular if we were to have a boy next time.

cheshirecat777 · 09/07/2019 13:21

Hard to imagine how Theo/Teddy can become more popular... we know so many!

HappyDinosaur · 09/07/2019 15:34

Around here it seems to be Milo, Poppy, Esme, Rupert, Rueben, William, Aurelia, Layla, Albie. Still lots of Alfie, Teddy, Henry, Theo, Isabelle/a, Eva/ie, Ave, Ada etc coming up too though. Oh and Alexander seems to be every other little boy I meet at the moment!

PrincessLouis · 09/07/2019 17:23

Yes to Wren

Eliza seems to be v popular on these boards

ourkidmolly · 09/07/2019 17:36

I know of 3 Greys. Peculiar. Seems a drab colour to favour as a babe.

ourkidmolly · 09/07/2019 17:36

Meant name not babe.

Cbeebiesrehab · 09/07/2019 19:59

Boys names ending in IE will continue to dominate I think...every boy bar mine had an IE ending at a recent group we attend.
I have also met multiple Pippas recently, maybe one on the rise.

whizzpopbangalang · 09/07/2019 20:16

I know soooo many Ivy's! Sure that will be top 10 soon if not already

bridgetreilly · 09/07/2019 20:17

Elsies are everywhere. Reuben is becoming a lot more popular. Lots of biblical names for boys, actually.

HellYeah90s · 09/07/2019 21:09

Thinking about it I've also seen several newborn Ambers and 3 Rosies recently.

OopsOhNoZHM · 10/07/2019 20:15

The surprising one I’ve heard is Naomi - there’s two in Child2’s class.
There’s plenty that I’ve read on this thread that were on my list for a girl but didn’t use as I think they’re high on many lists - Astrid, Luna, Ophelia, Willow, Violet. I think Jasmine is a riser, more so with Aladdin being released.
For boys I haven’t a clue, I only ever hear the same few names - Archie, Franky, Harrison, I think they’ll stick around a few more years yet before we see a difference

BlueMerchant · 10/07/2019 20:19

Posey
Dorothy
Iris
Violet
Willow

Barney
Stanley
Raphael
Leonardo
Augustus

Fatkins · 10/07/2019 20:39

Skyejuly · 10/07/2019 20:44
