Frankie
If you heard the name would you think boy or girl?
And do you like it?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DramaAlpaca · 06/07/2019 17:44

I'd immediately think girl, short for Francesca.

And no, I don't like it at all. For either boy or girl.

Francis for a boy isn't too bad, but not Frankie.

troppibambini · 06/07/2019 17:46

I know one of each. A boy 5 and a girl 3.

Tavannach · 06/07/2019 17:46

Prefer it for a girl, as nn for Frances.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 06/07/2019 17:49

I'd think Sister Sledge or Frankie Dettori.

But mainly girl.

mistermagpie · 06/07/2019 17:49

The only Frankies I know are female.

Zoobluebabypink · 06/07/2019 18:04

Frankie and Benny’s
Frankie Cocozza Grin

Not keen if I’m being honest but it’s not awful

Divgirl2 · 06/07/2019 18:04

Girl, and I'd hope assume it was a nickname.

heartoftheocean · 06/07/2019 18:16

Oh wow..... interesting response so far.
I will confess name I was thinking of using for a boy. Part of grandfathers name was Frank which I don't like. So had thought about Frankie. Hmmmm.

I wanted to call DS Francis (Frank/Frankie) but I backed down in the face of overwhelmingly negative feedback, and I don't regret it. I still like the name, and it is a major family name on both sides, but I'm not the one who has to live with it.

Even the Franks and Frankies I consulted said no!

pinkflowers82 · 06/07/2019 18:38

I'm currently pregnant with a girl and we love the name Frankie but we already have a Ben who gets called Benny.

libbynaughtz26 · 06/07/2019 18:39

I'd think boy. It's a lovely name. A school friend has a two year old called Frankie and he's adorable

PinkFlamingo888 · 06/07/2019 18:43

I love the name Frank/ Frankie for a boy. I wouldn’t want him to be stuck with just Frankie as an adult though so would either go with Frank or perhaps Franklin in bc. I’m not keen on Francis though

grufallosfriends · 06/07/2019 19:22

Girl

It sounds feminine and quite 'cute'

Nonameyet1 · 06/07/2019 21:11

I would have thought boy.

aibutohavethisusername · 06/07/2019 23:33

Girl

HoratioNightboy · 06/07/2019 23:52

I'd think boy, as I come from a long line of Francis/Frank/Frankies, and at least one male in each branch on that side have it either as a forename or middle name. I narrowly avoided being a Frances myself (thanks mum!), but poor brother copped it as a middle name. I'm not a fan of it in any form, and would recommend anything else instead!

Snowy81 · 07/07/2019 00:06

I would think girl.

How about franklin?

BobTheFishermansWife · 07/07/2019 00:10

Both, my best friend has a Francesca, nn Frankie, and I think of Frankie Valley and the 4 seasons or the band Frankie goes to Hollywood when people say Frankie and both are male in my head.

Bourbonbiccy · 07/07/2019 00:19

We have a little frankie, boy, in our extended family. So I immediately think boy

Oflawrence · 07/07/2019 00:27

Could be either. And I love it!!!

JetsetJetlaggedJaded · 07/07/2019 00:49

My dad was Frankie (Frank) as a boy and now my daughter is Frankie (Francesca)...

if you like the name don't let some random strangers on the internet put you off! Smile

DickZillaofTheVilla · 07/07/2019 00:51

It’s more common for girls recently. It’s probably one of my least favourite names for either. I don’t even know why I dislike it so much Confused

Shadow1234 · 07/07/2019 01:16

I would also think girl.

AverageMummy · 07/07/2019 02:53

I’d think either & that the child was a Francesca or Francis

Wherearemybloodykeys89 · 07/07/2019 04:18

Love it for a girl! Not so much a boy
