Just when I thought I'd settled on "the name" a spanner is thrown in the works!
Heard the name Freya today and it sounded lovely......
So what do you all think of Freya?
Would it go well with Noah?
Sorry to be a complete pest.

I think Freya is a gorgeous name, but it is quite popular

Dutchesss · 02/07/2019 18:35

I like it, lovely name and there's not too many of them around.

TurquoiseAndPurple · 02/07/2019 18:42

It's in the top 20 so it's obviously a well liked name by many. As soon as I started to like it I went off it due to the popularity.

mondler · 02/07/2019 18:43

I think it goes well with Noah. I know 4 under 4 in the SE.

SallyWD · 02/07/2019 18:44

Lovely name

keepingbees · 02/07/2019 18:45

I like it, it was on our shortlist. I've only ever come across two

Diamondjoan · 02/07/2019 18:48

I’d never heard it until a few years ago (except for the bras), when a lady at work called her DD Freya. I really liked it. Then there were another 2 Freya’s at work within a year. Very popular but still like it.

haverhill · 02/07/2019 18:53

I like it, but both kids’ names will end in an -ah sound. It’s a bit matchy for me, but both good names.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 02/07/2019 18:55

I really liked it - until someone said Friar Tuck (!) which spoilt it for me!!!!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 02/07/2019 19:05

There's no denying its a very pretty name, but Its also very popular, if that bothers you. I'm surprised youve only just discovered it, tbh.
It is quite matchy with Noah but not ridiculously so. I know a Jodie and Joe which I've always thought was a bit, but It seems to work for them

BooseysMom · 02/07/2019 19:28

I love it! It was on my top 10 girl's names. I had loads of girl's names but hardly any boys and we had DS and no others. Freya is Nordic and can be spelled as Freyja too.

carmenbea · 02/07/2019 20:22

Love this name! If you ever want to know if a name is popular just go into a card shop and see if they have the name you like personalised on the usual cheap bits that kids love! I have definitely seen a Freya cup, rubber and baby book

Madmarchpear · 02/07/2019 20:27

It's a good mix of strong yet feminine sounding. Although if there's any chance she won't be strapping, blonde and blue eyed I'd reconsider.

MikeUniformMike · 02/07/2019 20:33

It goes well as a sibling name. It's nice but very popular. I'm not keen on Frey, which it will get shortened to.

Lllot5 · 02/07/2019 20:35

I like Freya, Norse goddess I believe. Quite popular though

funmummy48 · 02/07/2019 20:35

Love it!

heartoftheocean · 02/07/2019 21:39

Such positive response, thank you all so far.
Im really not concerned about popularity. I picked my sons name Noah without realising how popular it is. I wouldnt change it for the world. In fact I love his name. The way I see it is popular names are popular for a reason :-)

DH loves the name Freya and whilst I really like it I could never get over the popularity of it as they are everywhere in our area. You can't go anywhere without coming across at least one

splishsplashsploshsplishsplash · 02/07/2019 21:47

I have a Freya Smile absolutely love the name and it gets lots of compliments. Although I've come across other Freya's when out and about I've not met any others at any groups or nursery so although it's popular I don't think it's ridiculously popular!

It was 20 odd in the name chart 4 years ago so not really popular.

Pinkmalinky · 03/07/2019 17:20

Very, very popular. One in each of my DC’s classes. It’s up there with Noah.

Fatkins · 03/07/2019 18:01

I like it! I think I slightly prefer Sofia though, which was your other choice iirc.

But I think Freya may go a bit better with Noah, so swings and roundabouts really!
