I posted before about Suki for my potential DD. Since then we have also come up with 3 other names. Middle name will most likely be Elizabeth. Which name is your favourite?

Suki
Helena
Hazel
Susannah (Susie)

Thank you

Susannah, then you still call her Suki as a nn

Peitho · 02/07/2019 13:56

Susannah with Suki as a nn.

Icklepup · 02/07/2019 14:15

Hazel :)

CakeRattleandRoll · 02/07/2019 14:19

Hazel

Puppilongstrumpf · 02/07/2019 15:35

Helena

I don't like Suki and don't see how it is related to Susannah. To me Suki looks kind nickname for Suzuki Confused

Blackberrybunnet · 02/07/2019 15:40

I like Susannah with Suki as a nn. Suki on its own doesn't sound like a real name. also makes me think of "Polly put the kettle on/Suki take it off again"

Owlbert · 02/07/2019 16:02

Suki by far! The others all pale in comparison!

thelonearranger · 02/07/2019 16:03

I think Suki is our favourite

I am assuming suki is on trend as a nick name considering pp have suggested it sounds a made in chelsea name which i guess is fine if that is your kind of area☺ anyway I like Hazel

LittleKitty1985 · 02/07/2019 16:20

I like Hazel, Susannah is ok, but I really dislike Helena (& it would get mispronounced)

Suki is really cute but I'd worry it would get changed to "Sucky" by bullies (with BJ connotations etc)

BlueMerchant · 02/07/2019 16:21

Helena. Timeless.

Loveislandaddict · 02/07/2019 16:23

Helena

elliandher5 · 02/07/2019 18:10

I like Hazel you know. And Hazel Elizabeth is gorgeous! But honestly, go with your heart.

Pemba · 02/07/2019 19:16
  1. Susannah (beautiful name). For short you could have Susie, Sukie or Zanna. Or Sue possibly!
  1. Helena is lovely too and a close second. Of course, there are at least three different pronunciations (HEL-ena as in Bonham Carter, Hel-AY-na, Hel-EEN-a, probably others).
  1. Suki which is nice but a bit cutesy as a stand-alone name. To the poster above, yes it is a traditional short name for Susan/Susannah.
thelonearranger · 02/07/2019 19:25

I think we will just wait and see what she looks like when she’s born (if it is a girl)

Hazel

Are you of Asian descent? If yes then Suki seems ok. If not, it seems culturally strange unless it is short for something.

Suki could most definitely be a nn for susannah and given that susannah is on your list I am confused about why you wouldn't want to get "two for the price of one"?!

It would give your child so much more choice when they're older. Suki is a very twee and young kind of name, it really does make me think of a Harajuku girl or similar. Your daughter may want an alternative that sounds a bit more sensible for certain circumstances - equally if they love Suki then they can be known by that nickname. Susannah is a lovely, pretty, classic name.

FWIW I love Helena and Hazel - Helena is classic and pretty and Hazel is a good balance of less usual but not twee.

Tillygetsit · 02/07/2019 22:46

I have a Susannah (Susie) but wish we'd thought of Suki now!

Bellaposey · 02/07/2019 22:48

Helena Grin but I'm biased.

We have one. Pronounced Helen-a and had the odd mispronounciation but nothing like is suggested on these threads. I think literally once or twice. Lots of nickname potential (ours is a Nell but could be Hela, Lena etc). Always get great comments on it from people.

I like Hazel as well but I don't like Suki. Cute nickname but not as a full name.

Calloway · 02/07/2019 23:16

I like Susannah/Susie/Suki

Helena and Hazel are blah

Sophronia · 02/07/2019 23:57

Susannah or Helena

AverageMummy · 03/07/2019 03:17

Susannah is a beautiful name and I love the idea of Suki as an unusual nickname

Hazel is one of my favourites

TFSRM · 03/07/2019 03:19

Hazel then Helena

PotatoCity · 03/07/2019 14:28

I like Hazel best by a mile.

Then Helena.

Then Susannah.

Then Suki.
