I’m having twin girls. I have two older DDs who I had many years ago!

DD is called Margot. Her name is a nod to Margaret, the Queen’s sister who I’ve always had a soft spot for and can picture her with a cigarette in one hand, brandy in the other, loving her life. I’m no royalist, just love that name too!

DD2 is Eleanor, a nod to Eleanor of Aq

I really love the Tudors, I did my history degree (back in the day, mind you!) based on the Tudors and would love to honour Elizabeth I and Anne Boleyn who I think was a feminist icon of her era. Slight problem, I don’t particularly like the name Anne/Ann and can’t call her Anna as my twin sister’s daughter is Anna.

Wouldn’t mind other options for Elizabeth? Perhaps Eliza as a connection? Any other ways to reference Anne Boleyn? Wouldn’t mind another Boleyn name as it’s all linked, or a first name similar to Boleyn? Any ideas??

Secretlifeofme · 02/07/2019 00:34

Belinda?

Kokeshi123 · 02/07/2019 01:34

Why not just pick another classic queen's name? Adelaide, Alexandra, Catherine, Mary, Charlotte, Caroline, Philippa....

pallisers · 02/07/2019 01:37

Isabeau - version of Elizabeth and also the she wolf of France. She'd take down Princess Margaret with one hand tied behind her back.

Sophronia · 02/07/2019 04:15

Anneliese/Annaliese/Annalise/Annelise etc. Combines Anne and Elizabeth.

AnonymousP · 02/07/2019 09:44

How about Nancy, Nina or Anais as a nod to Anne?

Eliza or Elspeth for Elizabeth?

Agree this is weird but I love it! Grin

kimlo · 02/07/2019 09:54

Mary. If I had to be a Boleyn I would rather be Mary than Anne.

bridgetreilly · 02/07/2019 12:21

Lady Jane Grey would be an awesome person to be named after.

Jane and Eliza
Jane and Maud
Jane and Catherine

BoudicasBoudoir · 02/07/2019 13:12

Bess

HmmGrey · 02/07/2019 14:12

Elize

mondler · 02/07/2019 18:37

Leanne? Bethany (does both Anne and Elizabeth)? Susanna/Suzanne?

Poppkitty90 · 02/07/2019 19:03

What about Mary?
Or you could go Marianne/Marianna as a nod to Anne Boleyn and Mary Stuart or Tudor (whichever Mary Tudor you prefer Grin)
Love Margot and Eleanor by the way! Think we have very similar taste

Tillygetsit · 02/07/2019 22:50

Anya?

Lilyannarose · 04/07/2019 12:07

I know twin girls named Betsy and Libby, named after their Grandma Elizabeth. I think that's a lovely idea.

youllhavehadyourtea · 04/07/2019 17:10

Bess and Matilda

FawnDrench · 04/07/2019 18:39

Henrietta

Ellmau · 05/07/2019 00:55

Mary
Katherine
Isabella - medieval queen's name, sounds a bit like Boleyn
Cecily - one of Elizabeth Woodville's sisters had this name

Tavannach · 05/07/2019 01:06

Nancy and Alexandra (the Queen's middle name).

LikeDolphinsCanSwin · 05/07/2019 01:27

I don’t think it’s weird, it’s 100% less weird than some of the baby names threads on here.

I’ve always liked Eliza, with maybe Lizzie as a nickname. I would love to have been called that Blush

Anna is harder if you can’t actually use Anna. How about Annika? Or Annelise (various spelling options according to google) is very pretty, I would go for that in your situation.

I really like Anais but wouldn’t use it because people won’t pronounce it properly and DD will go through life spelling it and correcting the pronunciation.

Bluerussian · 05/07/2019 03:49

Elizabeth and Ann or Anne are perfectly acceptable names, pretty, timeless and classic.
