'Place name' baby names

NC as I genuinely find this a bit embarrassing.

I have 2 DS who are late teens and they both have names of where they were conceived. No one would really know as my first DS has a name that isn't massively unusual as a boys name. DS2 has a slightly more unusual name but it doesn't scream 'place name' now we've moved house, it's part of the name of the road we were living in at the time.

I'm pregnant again (unexpectedly) this baby was conceived in Las Vegas. (I've heard the 'what goes on in Vegas' quote)

Suggestions? I would like to continue the theme, it's almost a 'in secret' with my DH.

"Siegfried and Roy"

SophyStantonLacy · 01/07/2019 06:46

@Bookworm4 I considered Elizabeth and Victoria for my daughters - the names of the streets they were born on. Not necessarily an eye roll, I don’t think.

SnowdropFox · 01/07/2019 08:03

If I'm reading correctly, DS2 wasn't named after a road. They moved home and his name just happens to appear in their new street name. Or am I completely confused?

OP I love the idea of subtly having your sons names in this way! Must give you and your DP a "secret smile". I echo pps suggestions for MGM. Personally I like:

Matthew Gregor
Michael Gregor
Marcus Gregor

Or Gabriel for mn.

Hehe I rather like the MGM idea!!

Do your current children know their names are of where they were conceived?? How do they feel about that? I would be mortified to know that as a kid haha. DS was conceived in Morocco and we half considered Rocco as a middle name 😄 I want to know your kids’ names!!

qj17 · 01/07/2019 08:09

We are naming our baby with the initials of LV as vegas is our fave place on Earth.

Few options for you

Didn't realise it was a boy so ignore aria!

AriadneesWeb · 01/07/2019 08:18

Thought I’d seen all the daft ideas for naming a baby
My DS has a middle name which is part of the name of the town we live in. We know that DS will probably move far away when he grows up so we thought it would be nice for him to have a little bit of home in his name to remind him of his roots.

SnowdropFox · 01/07/2019 09:29

That's a really sweet and thoughtful @AriadneesWeb!

mondler · 01/07/2019 10:49

I would love to know the names too!

Love the MGM idea. Did you go to any events or attractions that might be suitable?

Loving this! No ideas to add at the moment I hope you find what you are looking for!

GreatBallsOfFlier · 02/07/2019 12:37

Ds1 is called Brandon (where we were visiting when he was concieved).

And DS2 is called Smith (Hammersmith Rd is where we lived at the time)

I know it's not to everyone's taste. The boys aren't particularly aware of why we chose their names... I'm sure they'd find it a bit cringey but they are coming out of their teenage years so we're not as embarrassing as we used to be to them! My oldest DS even 'high fived' my DH when we told them we were expecting again as he 'assumed we didn't get up to much!' 😱

Quite outing I guess but I'm sure not that many people read full threads!

I am leaning toward an MGM initials as think that'd be the most vague!

Although still open to something a little more whacky!
