Struggling with Short List

heartoftheocean · 30/06/2019 08:16

I already have a son Noah H Surname.
I use both his first name and his first/middle name when I refer to him.
I do prefer names that are less likely to be shortened. Popularity is not my first thought when it comes to names. So please no comments about "too popular".
Im so unsure on the names and really don't know what to use.

Matilda - Girls name I had with my son. Still like it but not sure its "the one". Something is giving me doubts.

Summer - Gives me a lovely feeling. I love everything Summer/Beach/Nautical so felt this would be a lovely name.

Harper - Again Girls name when I had my son, family all said its very "Beckhams". Maybe need something more traditional with Noah.

Sofia - New addition to the list. Simple and elegant.

Eden - Saw this in a birth announcement recently and seemed really pretty and unusual. Too biblical with Noah? Have read it can be unisex which puts me off.

Daisy Anna - Came up with this whilst watering the flowers...... Sounded beautiful but is it just another 5 minute wonder name.

Jacob - Was put off this with first son due to the meaning, hence why I chose Noah instead. Would I regret not using?

Jasper - Slightly guilty pleasure name. Quite like its quirkiness but not sure if goes with Noah or if I'd be brave enough to use.

Please help, just going round in circles. Add names to my list, take them off, add them again..... Ahhhh!!

I like Sophia and Jasper.

userabcname · 30/06/2019 08:20

I like Jasper and Summer best from your lists. I really like Sofia too.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 30/06/2019 08:47

I certainly wouldn't put Harper with Noah.
Im definitely feeling Eden with Noah, though.
Also love Sofia and Daisy, but
Daisy Anna is a bit much.
Out of your boy names I prefer although don't like Jacob.
You say you prefer names that can't be shortened, but most names can no matter how short can be shortened, and Jacob can easily become Jake Jakey.
Sofia (Sof)
Eden (Edie).
For that reason I'd also avoid Matilda.

Peachbubble · 30/06/2019 09:00

I like Jasper, Sofia and Daisy

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 30/06/2019 09:04

Eden can be for a boy or girl and think it sounds very nice paired with Noah
Harper doesn’t go
I like Matilda and Tilly
Not keen on Jacob or Sofia
Love Daisy and love it with Noah
Jasper is a great name but not sure if it with Noah as a sib-set?

Are you open to suggestions or is this the final shortlist IFYSWIM?

AverageMummy · 30/06/2019 09:38

Sophia Eden and Daisy are all lovely - Matilda is nice too - don’t like the rest

Jacob is nice - I grew up in a very strong faith family went to faith school & tbh I don’t even know what the meaning is?

Jasper means wasp round here but it’s ok

AverageMummy · 30/06/2019 09:39

Names not easily shortened that you might like:
Clara
Rory
Beth

KateWrong · 30/06/2019 09:45

I think Jasper, Summer and Sofia are lovely.

Mummyofboysx · 30/06/2019 09:54

I have a Jacob and a Noah Grin. I was going for biblical. Kind of fed up with quirky names these days. Hmm

bridgetreilly · 30/06/2019 09:55

For a girl: Noah and Matilda
For a boy: Noah and Eden

OhhMyLittleGirls · 30/06/2019 10:18

I LOVE Harper, its v pretty imo, names in that "style" you might like, Piper, Marlo, Gia.
Eden is also lovely, how about Edie? My fav girls name is Harper, but I love all of them! Maybe wait to see what she suits?
For a boy, I'm not much help because I absolutely love Jacob and Jasper the same...again, wait to see what he looks like?

Poppkitty90 · 30/06/2019 10:29

Love Jasper.
I’d go for Matilda from your girls’ list

Cookit · 30/06/2019 11:57

I don’t like the sound of Daisy and Anna together, it sounds like one word Daisyanna. I don’t think I can say it without it rolling into one name.

growlingbear · 30/06/2019 12:02

Sofia is my favourite girls' name ever. Goes beautifully with Noah.
If you don't like names that can be shortened, don't choose Mathilda. It will turn into Mattie, Tillie, Millie etc.

I could never choose Jacob because of its meaning. But Jake is a great name in its own right and goes well with Noah.

I like Jasper - and gorgeous meaning. Goes well with Noah. Might turn into Jazz for short.

Jonah? (Or is that too close to Noah in its sounds?)

Shadow1234 · 30/06/2019 13:11

Summer is lovely and definitely my favourite on your list
Eden would be my second choice
Not keen on the boys names

Fatkins · 30/06/2019 13:45

I love Eden and Jacob. Think they are lovely with Noah. Yes, a bit biblical, but I don't think it's OTT. They're all mainstream names now.

diddlediddle · 30/06/2019 14:44

Summer and Jasper

BlueMerchant · 30/06/2019 14:48

Sofia or Eden (I'd only associate it with feminine although I've heard it's unisex) and Jacob.

wizzler · 30/06/2019 15:13

Ethan for a boy
Love Sophia
How about Sarah, Ruth or Martha

heartoftheocean · 30/06/2019 16:43

Thinking maybe:
Sofia Harper or
Sofia Elsie (not sure where Elsie come from just like it).
Sofia seems to be like alot and think it fits well with Noah. Noah and Sofia.
Unless anyone can think of a nice seasidey/nautical middle name. I don't like using family names.

Also keep thinking back to Amelia..... Its the name I had originally when I thought of Noah long before I even got pregnant.
Noah and Amelia has a lovely ring to it.
What do you all think?
Noah and Sofia or
Noah and Amelia?

OP posts:
AmyMaria2 · 30/06/2019 17:21

I like summer and Jacob best x

userabcname · 30/06/2019 17:26

Definitely Noah and Sofia for me.
Ooh nautical middle names...indulging my love of Disney I'd suggest Ariel (sorry), or how about Celeste (LOVE this name), Coral, Morgan, Pearl...?

heartoftheocean · 30/06/2019 20:20

Any thoughts on these two?
Noah and Sofia or
Noah and Amelia
Amelia is the name I had along with Noah before I even had babies.

OP posts:
Fatkins · 30/06/2019 20:24

I definitely prefer Noah and Sofia.
