Caspar/Casper

Hi everyone ,

What are people's views on the name Caspar/Casper and which spelling would you go for ? Xx

This was on my list and I love it. Was vetoed by DH due to ghost but I honestly think that's yonks ago so no one ne cares now. Caspar spelling.

I prefer Casper. Definitely a ghost but I think it's been long enough that it doesn't matter.

Personally I'm not a fan of the name but then I don't think that matters as long as you love it.

It makes me think of the friendly ghost!

I have a 12 month old Caspar! I debated the spelling for ages but went for -ar in the end. FWIW I LOVE his name and we get loads of great comments about it.

ancient name, been around thousands of years

better than the other wise men names (Balthasar and Melchior), actually, there was Melchior in my school and he was very cool

I prefer with e spelling

Caspar reminded me of Spar shops.

I was tempted by Cassian and still think that might have been more interesting.

I have a 10 year old Caspar - always gets spelt with an 'e' by everyone else though

I love Casper! I like either spelling. The ghost thing is so long ago and he was a child who died so obviously he had to have a name. I think uts a silly reason not to love Casper!

I prefer Casper. As someone above said I read Caspar like Ca-Spar like the shop and it sounds a bit posh totty when you say it like that.

Thankyou so much for your feedback seems to be positive I'm not too fussed about the ghost connection as like others have said it was a cartoon so long ago but it was a name way before that !

Also looking for a middle name that works beginning with j, we've used James already xx

Depends how it flows with your surname

We have a 2.5 year old Caspar who was born on Christmas Day We chose this spelling so it was related to the wise man (Gaspar) rather than the ghost! I was unsure on his name for quite a while but I’ve only ever had lovely comments

I prefer the Caspar spelling. How about Caspar Jeremiah?

Love it! DC3 was due beginning of November and we agreed it the baby was born on Halloween and was a boy then we would call him Casper 😃

Caspar is one of my favourite names. Also like Cassius or Cassian too
