No idea for a name

I'm due in just over a week and have no idea for a boy's name. Our surname is a noun and I would prefer a name people can spell and pronounce easily. We can't have these names due to family:

Jack, Leo, Theo, Charlie, Jake, Dylan, Grayson, James, Frankie, Bobby, Luca, Joshua, Harry, Joseph, Isaac, Kieran.

My partner and I just can't agree on any. Help! Nothing too out there please.

The only names we can agree on are Harrison, Finn and Finlay but I'm just not sure if I can see our boy being called these.

Felix, Teddy or Rafael (Rafa)?

What's your concern with Harrison, Finlay etc?

Theo is the name of our son so Teddy would be too similar.

With Finlay I think everyone would spell it Finley and I don't want Harrison to be shortened to Harry.

We have a Harrison who is 9 , he's the only one in his school and he loves his name .

He doesn't get harry much to be honest though his little school friends nick named him harribo 🤦‍♀️

How about Flynn instead of Finn?

Fullmoons · 25/06/2019 14:13

Or Quinn?

Tiredmum31 · 25/06/2019 14:41

I am swaying more towards Finlay (Finn for short) and Harrison (Harris if we do shorten it). Do you think these go well with Theodore?

The suggested names are lovely, just some like Conrad are prob a bit too posh for us x

I also thought of Rudy and Miles but wasn't really sure. I love George but my partner isn't keen. He likes Jude but MIL is Judy and so I'm not sure

I like Harris/ Harrison and it sounds nice with Theo. Theo and Finn is a bit harder to say in one mouthful!

AverageMummy · 26/06/2019 09:58

I think Harrison is awful although I did feel sorry for Meghan Markle & Prince Harry getting so much stick for choosing names with such strong class associations.

But I’m just one random no one on the Internet - nothing you choose will be universally loved

Harrison is yuk, although I do generally hate surnames as first names. It's also so zeitgeisty, but not because of the royals, it was before that. I just think it's naff.

Finlay is much nicer. I personally prefer Finn on its own, but fair enough if you want a longer version.
